Don't know too many local VPS providers, but a VPS is like 1000000x better than shared hosting. Good decision! :)

I've never tried local providers, but have 11 instances with RamNode and have never had any issues.
Quick support, amazing uptime, good pricing.

So last night I hada catastrophic failure on one of their hosts, lol.
Will try Domains.co.za from next month

$75 per month with Digital ocean....
which linux based product on your platform are comparable

Sorry guys ignore last two posts..was directed at GP hosting..getting use to new platform..PM Convers.. and Forum reply has same template...:crying:

Check these DIY hostings if you know well about command lines and server management, for example, DO/Host1Plus server + WHM/VPSrobots Panel, the best things about them are the dedicated server resources for your sites and much more economical prices when compared to any managed hostings.

I'd recommend Digital Ocean, Vultr, OVH or if you're feeling flush - Azure. I'd avoid the local providers if you're needing something solid, flexible and with true high availability.

Hostafrica's support is really good, but unless you know how SSH works and are willing to get your hands dirty I would not go with them. And since they host their cloud servers at Hetzner and Hetzner recently got hacked my VPS has been blacklisted 3 times already cause I just cannot get to the core problem of where the spam is coming origination and neither can they. Remember these VPS's you have to manage and look after your self.

Data keepers. Paying 299 for awesome service and Ubuntu vps. Also uncapped bandwidth. As I am at 1047gb download for the month to date.. Eish..

It all depends on latency and where your visitors/users are coming in from. Reduced latency will give you quicker response times on sites and remote sessions like SSH2 and RDP. Try Google Cloud they have CDN locally https://cloud.google.com/ for international and Clickworks JHB or CPT https://www.clickworks.co.za/vps-hosting for local. AWS is also a good option. Edge computing for cloud is on the rise at the moment as well, which will aid in reducing the latency. If you are running any real time services like a game server or voip it will definitely need to be local for the sub 30ms latency over dsl or fiber.
