VSAT

Hi

I stay about 15km outside of Krugersdorp and have a mobile datacard from Axxess as well as using from Afrihost. Somehow we manage to go thru about 4 to 8 gigs during the month and 90% i have to top up again. I think I spend between R800 and R1000 per month on this.

Is it possible to get VSAT for the same price and if so from where? I'm search but so far I've had no luck. the reason for VSAT is that I dont have line of sight for any of the services.

Just remember with VSAT you will have much higher latency minimum of 500ms it may be higher depending on where the earth station is.

+1 VSAT speed is terrible...

If you have decent 3G and the amount of usage is your only problem then simply change the package.

VSAT will be slower with massive latency and ultimately more expensive.

But VOX have some options for you...

If his Mobile connection is fine yet going over 8GB and spends upto R1000, then he could easily just buy the 15GB package.

Same thing and has the same latency issues.

You don't do satellite internet unless you really have no other choice.

Yea, around 2s round trip and your traffic lands in the UAE. This was for farmers etc who really are in the middle of nowhere

You should try Inmarsat Global Xpress, it will change the entire game but will cost a whole lot of dollars.

Thanks guys for the info. I didnt realize that the VSAT will be so slow. I think that will just drive me up the wall and then sooner or later I'll revert back to broadband.
I think at the end of the day, that I will rather then just up my BB and get it over and done with instead of spending R1000's to install a dish and hardware which is not really going to help me in the end.
