Hey guys and gals,

My question to you is.. How long should Vuma take to schedule or contact me for a fiber install from my wall to my house?

On the vuma coverage page they show that fiber is available and that i can order a package:

I also have the fiber box's outside my house and on the otherside of the road:

I placed an order September 2022 for my account/ line to migrated from plumstead to southfield and no indication was given that there were or would be any issues but yet I am STILL waiting

FNO Feedback: Cant book due to no capacity for the area
or

The provider has advised that the area is not live yet

Yet Afrihost contacted me March 20 2024 saying that Vuma would be scheduling an install within 2-3 working days but as of today no one has contacted me!!

Who or where can i escalate this issue to as this has almost been going on for 2 years and I am Still waiting!!!!

@AfriNatic @AfriGuy
Any advise from you guys ?

This is the most important page i have seen, showing that fiber was installed in the area in 2019!!

I remember this!

Wow, didn't think your suburb would get fibre activations until your grandchildren inherited the house!

Soon ...

The word capacity is what indicates the issue here.
Cant book due to no capacity for the area
That means the area is fibre ready but there is no service available until they upgrade the area to have more capacity in the area to accommodate more client. Unfortunately that is the work of Vumatel engineers and planning and not Afrihost. You will unfortunately have to wait for Vumatel to come back and upgrade their infrastructure to get more clients connected.

I blame the people who have multiple lines installed to one premises. The FNO's cater for one line per premises but if there is capacity they will install more than one on request.

Okay I understand that but I spoke to kne of the technicians when they 'serviced' the box and they advised there's plenty space available so there's some miscommunication somewhere

There might be space available but there is not enough backhaul/strands available at the distribution point is my guess.

Hi @Morph69
VUMA Still have "capacity" issues in the Southfield/Plumstead area, as well as the Goodwood area

There "completion" dates have continually been shifted month after month unfortunately as we are also awaiting these to be completed to connect a few of our customers

As far as I know these are due to Power supply upgrades and not backhaul/capacity upgrades hence the continual delay. So the delays are not entirely VUMA's doings..

Ye i have heard that too about the power issues yet they (afrihost and vuma) said that it should be resolved by end of march and yet we still waiting... at least eishkom have been behaving themselves..

Wow. These excuses used to be that of Telkoms famous " We don't have coverage ". Guess how quickly the tables have turned

Vuma tells ISP x that upgrades will be done end of march, ISP x relays this to customer. End of march comes, customer is wondering what's happening so ISP x asks vumatel for an update.
Vumatel says end of April this time then the cycle begins again.

Idk if other fnos do this but vumatel does this a good bit, I've gone through it myself
