Vuma Reach Phoenix Thread

I'm in Foresthaven. Don't know of anyone else that's got Vuma over here as yet.

Have they done trenching at your place as yet?
you might go live when caneside / sunford goes live. I have registered about 3 weeks ago and still waiting for the area to go live. I am in sunford

Caneside and forestheaven are already live, they aren't finished yet in Sunford.
Clean up might be complete this week or the next here.

Bruh I'm still waiting. Afrinatic did ticket an incomplete install with Vuma for me but no reply from them as yet. Tried contacting them directly as well but no response. So I'm in Limbo now. Disheartening as well as I chowed most of my 100GB ADSL thinking I was sorted for fibre :crying:
**** man. Hopefully you come right by this afternoon!

Foresthaven and Caneside went live last week. Driving around I see Sunford is in the final stages of completion. These 3 a areas combined are the largest in Phoenix with most of the main infrastructure.

They didn't even read my whatsapp messages. These ou's worse than Telkom.

Got a response now from Vuma. The access box on the road is not live as yet. So have to wait for another team to sort that out. Not sure when though.

I did. They have not responded to that as yet. 2 roads away from Sunford drive actually.

When I was coming from work I saw guys who were still installing cables on an adjacent road, I stopped and asked them when are we going live, they just shrugged and said they don't know. So if they are still installing cabling in unit20, I highly doubt that we are live as yet.

That's ****. Sorry man. It's strange that they put you on the Sunford circuit then?

I'm left in limbo cos I'm worried about the installation done at home, not sure if everything ran smooth with that and also the fact that we "may not" be live to test the actual installed line. Did you experiment with actual downloading? How are real time speeds compared to the speed tests done?

The splicing guys have a tool to check if the cable is kinked and broken. If they tested and says it's fine then it's probably fine. They will also test your node outside and check if it's active or not. That will tell them if the area is lit up

I need to understand DFA and their relation with Vuma. Their website mentions them as wholesale provider and that I see their ducting infrastructure going right past our office in Mount Edgecombe (it encloses Sucrose Cres, Marshall Drive, and Burnside) although we are not covered by Vuma or Openserve.

The ducting also goes 20m past my house on the main road in Trenance Manor. I remember trenching and cabling done on the road a couple of years back, I assumed it was Openserve at the time and maybe for copper replacement for the landline backbone. It matches DFA ducting infrastructure. This recent trenching through Woodview, Caneside, Foresthaven, and Sunford - all new to me. I don't recall if there was anything done in Palmview previously, so that may also be recent trenching.

Search shows Vumatel and DFA is owned by CIVH, and that Vumatel is also a wholesale customer of DFA. I guess Vuma needs enough customers in the area for them to trench the side roads and layout their network. It is just 20m, hook me up!

Get your neighbors and their great grannies to show interest bruh. At the end of the day it's purely a numbers game.

I also stay around 20m from a DFA backbone. But alas we need "around 60% of your neighborhood to show interest" for Vuma to even consider phoenix for anything
