Welcome to normal internet. I have had similar things without the added bonus of superior latency.

Enjoy it.

We need it as South Africans. There is no real joy elsewhere. Congratulations!

Not in the DBN area, but Vuma has installed here on our smallholding which is a multi-dwelling unit (16+ residents and 2 businesses).

They have the following all over the place. They have also dug up the bricks and put them back into place, but from what I can tell the actual fibre isn't in the conduit.

So my question is, how will they manage that?
I did reply to your pm.

The actual fibre will only be floated when a resident places an order on an ISP.

Thanks. Saw your reply.

I see they did get the fibre to the walls eventually. The procedure just looked strange to me at first I guess. I understand from the wall into the house is at my cost (the entirety of the rest of the installation was done free of charge after AH established that at least 40% of residents had an interest in FTTH).

Were very quick to respond to the "poll" as well.

Myself and another tenant had to drive them as they are by no means tech-savvy, nearing their 60s. Luckily it's one owner and his wife so no body corporate tenant right nonsense. Simply explained to them the property value would go up and they ran with it.

Hi Gents

line was active yesterday ... speeds are fine...

but the catch was the contractors charged me R850 for digging and installing the cabling. This was not part of the Terms and Conditions when i signed up.

Although i must admit that Afrihost has taken the liberty of trying to get VUMA to patch up my driveway as they just dug and left it like that.

Today i will do some proper testing of the line, in terms of Torrents and streaming of the UK servers with netflix.

Did they say how many meters of cable they used?

DAFUQ! We got all that free in Cape Town at least the 1st 30 meter run

Guess your installers needed some KFC monies:laugh:
Haha i could not agree more with you on this one man lol

but i am going to ensure that i do get my money back

Damn bruh. That doesn't seem right. Charging you an extra R850 and they didn't even restore it to its original state? Always have a couple of cold ones and a few pack biltong on hand, a satiated man is a man you can negotiate with

Only came across this thread now but have been monitoring the VUMA reach progress and am waiting patiently. Sunford is in the process, and I can only hope that they will make the jump over to Lenham/Northcroft next.

Hopefully it only means another 3 months wait if thats the general timeframe between starting trenching and going live.

We need the 100/100 options though :p

Sunford is in testing phase, Brookdale is current and Stanmore thereafter.
Reach will then continue in 2022.

You just had to burst my bubble didn't you. In another year we may have other providers though, might be worth the wait.

17 meters of digging at a cost of R50 per meter ... total Cost R850 bru... total madness

Vuma Reach covers the first 30m from the slim box outside to the ONT. Any extra meters will be quoted on and the client can decide to accept of reject. IF they reject the order will be cancelled and the initial R399 or R529 will be refunded.

You should not have paid for 17m.

Please send me a pm so I can investigate why you were charged.
