Standard UPS, works like a powerbank essentially. Either have it permanently connected so there isn't downtime or manually plug it into ONT and/or router when you need to. I bought the UltraLan Micro UPS from Takealot for R499 and it works really well for me. There's quite a few options too.

EDIT: This is what I bought though I see the price has increased. Another brand I've heard of is Gizzu.

Spend R460 or so at Takealot and get a backup power source to keep your ONT and router lit up during load shedding."

Anyone else's speed completely tanking during peak hours? I'm currently getting 10-15mbps on the 40mbps line with Afrihost

From the information I gathered in this thread I though that network contention (in an area) will not be an issue and you would get the full package speeds, unless the backhaul equipment was experiencing high volumes. With the experimental POC are users able to saturate the network in an area and raise contention issues such that other users are not able to sustain the package speeds?

Backhaul most likely wont be the issue, the GPON split ratio will be as theyre running a /64 split so if everyone maxes their lines the max speed would be 39ish down and 20 up. But FNOs usually go under the assumption that everyone wont max their lines at the same time

Alas, still no change. I am really glad that our ping isn't affected though.
