Vumatel increasing prices

Vumatel will increase pricing across its fibre packages by between 1.1% and 2.1% from 1 June 2023.

However, the fibre network operator (FNO) has announced that it will waive installation and activation fees from that date to offset the increase.

How does a 50/50Mbps — 2.1% Vumatel increase translate to a 7% increase at the ISP level?
Because the ISP's also need to "eat".

I really wish we had Openserve here. It was so close! Despite being a fully Vumatel covered suburb, Openserve started installing Fibre here. They stopped halfway through about 50 meters away from my property. :crying:

Received from Cybersmart yesterday.

Dear Valued Customer,

Please note that as of 1st June 2023, Vumatel will be implementing a price increase to all available circuit offerings.
Unfortunately, Cybersmart is unable to absorb these adjustments and our pricing will be amended, as per the below table.
You will be able to review these amendments on your next available invoice, which will be sent out to you on the 10th of May 2023.
Uncapped Fibre Package New Monthly Fee Vat in*

We've asked. Will do a follow-up if/when we get feedback.

Haaibo! That Ferrari isn't going to buy itself...
Sheeesh. These poor ISPs operate on razor-thin margins. Maybe a nice Merc or a Beemer or a Lexus for the big ones, but definitely no lambos

Prices must be lowered not increased, these guys dont understand their pricing and will end up messing up the industry

I am on a 200mbps line, but hardly get 45Mbps from them. Most days I am happy with 7-10Mbps. Pity Openserv isnt in our area or I would switch.
