Vumatel install

Is the trenching included in the installation cost, or did you have trench from the boundary wall to your home?

From what others have told me, trenching within the boundary is the owner's responsibility

So it is dependent. VUMA has said that they will trench withing the property, but only up to 10 meters, the rest will be your responsibility. They other thing to note is that if you have paving or cement, they will not be able to trench.

The reason behind this is that the installation people are not equipped to do trenching.

In our case, they only dug one meter and removed/replaced on large stone. This was the one meter between the wall and the house.

True, that is another point I left out, they choose the point closest from the boundary wall to your house to bring the fibre into the roof

Boundary Wall to House

Please confirm if I understand this correctly:
1. The Vumatel fibre installers will be willing to trench the garden (how deep?)
2. Install PVC conduit piping in the trench
3. Up to a maximum of 10m to the nearest wall
4. BUT NOT cut a channel through 1m paving surrounding the house?

Exterior of House
Do they install trunking when running the fibre cable up the outside of the house to the roof?

Interior of House
Do they install trunking when running the fibre cable down from the roof inside the house?

Thanks for the info.

1. It is kind of shallow, I think about 300mm in general, maybe lower.
2. They will put in the pipes, they come with them to you house.
3. That is correct. They will run a conduit all the way along the boundary wall, to the closest point to your house.
4. No, I don't believe they will, as they have no way of reinstating it.

Ext - Yes

Interior. Yes, but the trunking itself is very thin

Thanks for all the insights DERoestorf. You're proving to be a wealth of information :-).

Actually, the fibre came inside without trunking and did'nt actually reach the roof. But our installation was very simple so it may differ.

Hi FLHEM

Is your fibre up and running? Speedtest?

Yes it is. A network speedtest is at the end of the video on the start of this forum, but here is a Cape Town test for a 20/2mbps package.1458770076026.jpg

Ah, sorry - I see you are the OP.

What has your experience with Vuma been like? Pre and Post install, if you don't mind me asking.

That may be the case. With me there is trunking from the wallbox to the roof. no trucking in the roof however. and then in the room, they use this very thin trunking, it basically fits around the fibre cable, and just covers it.
