Vumatel Installation Help!

Hi there, going out on a limb here...
My area is very close to going live (less than a week) and I was thinking if anyone might have some info for me.
I only ask as my current ADSL is terrible, we've all been there and i'm still here trying to get more than 2Mbps :(

Since I am extremely new to this, how does Vumatel determine who to call first to install the fibre box in my house. Sorry I don't know the name of it, I already have the box on the outside of my house.

I ask only because I moved 2 years ago and before I moved I had a number of a guy at Telkom, I would log a fault and nothing would happen to resolve it but then I received this mans number and he would always sort my house out within a couple of hours. I often asked if I could send a gift to say thank you but he would always decline and says it's his job.

Does anyone have a contact I can contact from Vumatel to maybe bump up my position on the list? I know it's not the normal thing you see here but I don't know how long it will take before they contact me and knowing there is fibre in my area whilst I use my slow ADSL line will drive me through the roof! Please, please!

If anyone has someone I can use, please could you send me a private message, I will keep it anonymous.
Also, if you're interested in a free gift as a token of my appreciation and you have the info, I will happily deliver!

Regards,
Chris

Vumatel works on a first-come-first-serve basis. It doesnt matter if your order comes from a salesperson, an ISP or directly on their website, you go into a non-bias Q to be scheduled. If you placed your pre-order as soon as your area opened a few months ago, you will be higher in the Q.

Having said that, they won't take their time to install you, it's in their best interest to get as many new people installed in new areas as fast as they can.

Thanks for the clarity, appreciate it.

Remember, this is bribery! You shouldn't be paying extra for what you already pay for.

But Vumatel should be quite quick if your area is live. Speaking with one installer crew, they said they have done 4 easy installs in one day, an average of 2. They can work quickly.

Just to give my experience with vumatel, phoned them yesterday to submit my order, they called me this morning to confirm installation on Thursday.

So they're pretty quick :)

Also keep in mind if it's regular Vumatel is should take around 2 weeks, also you are only billed once you order a package from the portal. So get the line installed. Put cancellation through on your other, then activate when you need? Aerial is different

Thanks everyone!
If I remember when I signed up last year it said 97% remaining so me thinks i'm high on the list *holding thumbs*

I'll put my cancellation in with Telkom once the fibre is set up and running, not going to take any chances.

How is aerial different? Vumatel has just put up poles in my suburb (Magaliessig) and I am looking to get a package with Cool Ideas!

What must I do now to ensure I get connected as soon as possible?

You need to apply via the fibrehoods portal https://portal.fibrehoods.co.za for your line installation. Once this is complete we get a notification on our side and we send a router and details to connect. Our part is quick and easy.

And for normal Vumatel?
I signed up last year sometime, me thinks I was early to sign up.
I've signed up on your website, is there anything else I can do?
Right now i'm just waiting for the call from Vuma to come install in my house...

Give Vumatel a call then ask for installations to ask for progress and a date of when they will be installing? They should have date that a while ago.

Sorry I should have mentioned my area is days away from going live (apparently by Friday we should be live)

Yes so once it's live they should call and schedule an install, if not give them a call :).
