Vumatel launches Vuma Key

The asymmetrical 10Mbps package features a 5Mbps upload speed and supports up to four (4) simultaneously connected devices.
“Vuma Key is different to other affordable fibre products in the market. Ours allows multiple devices to be connected by a single product, where the closest competing offer only enables a single device,” Van der Westhuizen added
Does not makes sense at all??
 
Yes this is way better than Fibertime offer but does Vuma Key connect router/ONT via ethernet cable or optic fibre cable? Meaning connect from street box/slimbox to your property
 
I am paying R1 247 per month for Vumatel/Afrihost 500/200 line. My area is considered a poor area but still the fibre is expensive. If we could make it cheap for everybody then everybody will benefit. But like many different companies in RSA you must pay premium price for not so premium service.

Probably wifi only. With others afaik you get one ethernet port in additional to wifi so the usual Vuma spin here.

What I've been saying and why I support others like Zoom. Price should be based on the service and not the area and there's no reason they can't roll this out everywhere instead of having this 3 separate networks.
 
I recently spoke to someone who claims that on Vuma-Afrihost he gets a 1000/500 line for under R1000. I looked at the prices for myself and the closest was about R930 for a 100/100. I wonder whether the prices can differ that much, seems unlikely. Perhaps he pays a R1000 more than he realises. 😀

I believe the reason is because they know you can pay more, and by increasing your price to subsidise another, they can increase their profit. They also appear very noble to be helping the poor. Possibly get social points for this too.

Must be an incentive skeem. Some ISP's give you a percentage off your bill the more "friends" you recommend to sign up using your code....the most I've seen is 20% off for 5 or more successful sign ups.

Higher density, higher contention, less finicky with having cables strung all over the place, lower average usage, predominantly mobile device usage all change the service itself.

The irony is I can barely afford the R99. This will fail and is already failing. They've reintroduced the cheaper 25/25 package which is now on par with Vuma Reach. What they're not considering is that they're subsidising these with income from more expensive areas which makes them unable to compete with smaller newer operators charging less and it will get worse as overbuilding continues. What they should be doing is allow higher packages so that it's in fact the lower packages that subsidises the network rollout.
