Internet service providers (ISPs) in South Africa recently took notice when Vumatel started advertising routes to its own range of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, but the company said it has no plans to launch Vuma ISP.

Why? They have a pretty good situation. ISPs margins is thin and dealing directly with customers are expensive. They are essentially outsourcing a big headache for relatively cheaply.

This might work because if Vuma create ISP it might be cheaper just like Telkom new Openserve FTTH pricing
The ISP might be launched for WOAN related reason remember Vuma parent company wants to enter Mobile Network industry via WOAN

Still no response on why they increased prices while everyone else is not only halving prices but also doubling speeds. Unless we hear something from them in next several days, I'll be moving over to openserve... compare any isp on both vuma and openserve, vumatel are basically half the speed at close to double the price. Its a no brainer

I'd be very unlikely to use a Vuma ISP if I was provisioned a Private IP....

They aren't going to say anything unless they start losing customers. Please leave them ASAP - I'd do it too but they're the only fiber provider in my area.

Funny how they failed to mention the entrepreneurs and sub contractors they used and abused to get to where they are...in particular Motheo (Principle contractor to SADV) that did not pay subcontractors who built their networks. Motheo Fibre then liquidated, and emerged as MTEL, acquired by SADV subsequently acquired by VUMA...all above board by means of CIH Group.... just saying!! I wish the shareholders well.
