How can I get hold of the CEO of Vumatel. Would like to inform him of his total discrimination against lower income groups.
This borders to utter criminal activity.
Up until yesterday, our neighborhood (Dorandia Pretoria North) was part of the Vumatel roll-out of fiber in our area.
BUT the discriminating Vumatel has decided to only continue the installation for the higher income areas.
The areas on the map (in Red), "lower income areas", was included in their original roll-out but conveniently removed yesterday.
Fiber is clearly more affordable and reliable than the wireless garbage like 5G and other wireless services.
why is fiber exclusively for the rich?

Because they build according to expressions of interest, and people in poor areas can't afford the service so don't show interest.

Racist vumatel. Even their logo is only one colour. It should be representative of the whole country with different colours making up their logo according to the demographics.

I would have boycotted them if I didn't enjoy my fast Vumatel fibre so much.

I know its difficult for some people to not just scream and shout about discrimination and racism when things dont go they way they planned.
So here is the basic breakdown of how it works.
Municipal wayleaves to trench need to obtained at a substantial cost before anything gets started.
Next they have to pay workers to dig trenches and put the trunking in. They also have to deal with the costs around all of the existing infrastructure the trenching will damage in the process.
Fibre is then blown through the conduit and a whole lot of splicing and termination needs to take place.

Now each of those points cost substantial amounts of money, that investment needs to be recuperated through sales.
So if you were the business owner and low interest was shown in an area for those services, would you go to the trouble and costs that you wouldnt recover through sales?

I heard metrofibre is coming from the Orchards side, so you may be able to get help from them

Because SADV built those few spots you see in the red circled area. The merge of SADV and Vumatel and the integration of the networks is probably the reason it was on then off the coverage area, it's nothing to do with discrimination, as SADV's feasibility to build those MDU's in your "low income" area also included an LSM requirement, so I think you are way off base here.

Vumatel's chief criteria in assessing a suburb for a rollout is uptake, hence their push in any inquiry for you to log your interest on the portal.

There are a few other difficulties rolloing out in PTA, but not for discussion here.

My suggestion to you would be to go to the Vumatel website and log your interest. Get a 1000 or so of your neighbours to do the same.

I checked all the areas and my area had a higher "show interest" than the other areas. Why did the suddenly exclude us when we was included. Our area was also marked pink but suddenly changed when the digging started???

I checked all the areas and my area had a higher "show interest" than the other areas that is now in build state. Why did they suddenly exclude us when were included. Our area was also marked pink but suddenly changed when the digging started??? Further more they send teams with clip boards into the upper class areas to collect "interest" whereas there was ZERO vumatel reps in our area. (total discriminations) It was all PRE-PLANNED by a criminal CEO.

Maybe the clipboard people are there to count the white people. That would fit in better with your racist narrative.

Of all the thousands of possibilities of issues that they could encounter, and you scream discrimination first
Perfect example of why some believe the country is tumbling down the stinkhole

L O L! Vumatel literally got as far as marking the street outside my place and were about to start digging trenches when they packed up all their stuff and never came back. Literally everyone in my block expressed written interest in their service and there is fibre all around us, even just across the street. Vumatel are entitled to make their own decisions about where they provide their service for whatever reason. Would you agree to do a job if you knew you were going to make a loss?

and for all that is known they might have not gotten municipal clearance etc

“Ohhh man we don’t know what the ROI on this is gonna be, better spend a huge sum of money on it”

It’s not like they’ll never upgrade, or expand the network. The locations currently selected will give them a good baseline of actual interest in the area.

I’m from PTA-North, and everyone I know in the “planned” areas is getting fibre. Give it 6 months and they might decide it’s feasible to start expanding. The adsl/mobile infrastructure in the area sucks balls so I can only imagine people will start signing up in droves.

So just chill it out and relax. No need to shid and peepee ur pants my guy
