VW Golf 7

I'm pretty shocked that it's actually going to be a bit cheaper than the G6. Normally prices for these things go only one way, and that's up. Has VW SA realized that they're pricing themselves out of the market?

It will most assuredly not be cheaper in SA. They might be saying it will be, but it totally flies in the face of the way of doing business in Africa.

With the conservative economical engines on the new Golfs I can't imagine the track was much fun..

It's not all about power, you can have great fun with small engines and very little power...dare I say even more fun sometimes.

I'm guessing the self-parking feature will only be applicable to automatics?

Pricing for the Golf 7 is out and amazingly it IS a bit cheaper than the equivalent model Golf 6 cards. Some dealerships have already got in some 1.2TSI and 1.4TSI models. Standard features include a few things like rich screen radio and hill assist that you had to pay for before.

Golf 6 pricing started at R235 000 for the entry level 1.6, and entry level pricing is R233 000 for the new better entry level 1.2TSI engine which has the same power but better economy. Its a bit cheaper and it comes with more features. If they were the same spec then the Golf 7 would come in quite a bit cheaper.

From comfortline models up you also get bluetooth, USB, iPod support and multi-function steering, cruise control standard across the range.

Do not want. They should come up with a better design for the Golfs. It looks too similar to 5 and 6.

Looks ok, I wanna see the Gti though. Is the self parking feature standard across the range?

Will most likely be an extra, btw it was available on the Golf 6 as well.

Hill hold assist is standard on all Golf 6's in SA

Wow this thing is beautiful I love it. Damn had I not been a perfomance car crazy I'd consider a 1.4 TSi. I am in love already. Thanks for the pictures mate. I am going to the launch on the 9th.

R250k for a Golf? Only the GTi's have DSG I take it.
How well do VW's hold there value and what's so special about the GTi 35 that makes it R380k?

^BMW and Toyota fan so forgive my ignorance

Never mind, you'l never understand. Stick with the Beemer, very good car. Get yourself a 125i and leave the Gti's to us.

DSG should be available on the 1.4TSI and GTI, not sure about the 1.2TSI but it should be available.

As for the price, take one for a test drive and you'll understand.

Anyway I am kinda stupefied that it looks like the new golf range will be cheaper than the previous.

Doesn't make sense !

The new MBQ platform enables VW to make their car cheaper than before hence the price cut. You can read about the technicalities on google. Thats what I've picked up in the motor magazines.

There might be a hundred ways in which to manufacture a car cheaper, but in Africa that cost saving is, by default, never propagated down to the consumer.

So the replacement 1.4 TSI Highline is less powerful than the existing model?

Also, R330k is a bit steep for a non-GTI+ Golf.
