VW Golf 7

I need a catch me up on the golf 7, so many people excited about it and talking about it.
When will the top of the range models get here? Don't care much for the slower variants.

I'm gonna go to Barons Bellville on Saturday, should be a blast.

*I always serviced my 2.0 TDi at Menlyn VW when I lived there. It's a great VW branch!

Yes they are the best. I've been with them for 4 years now. They give Great service indeed, I always give them 10/10.

I heard on the radio today they were advertising the 'golf day' this saturday at tavcor outside the vw factory. Will maybe go check it out.
 
Will pop in at one of the dealers in my area on Saturday. If one is too hectic I will move on to the next lol. From the VW website, when they talk about the tech it is mainly the new radio which to be honest isnt something you are going to be looking at much when driving. Fortunately they still have knobs as I dont want to have to look at the screen at 120kmh to find anything.

Seems dissapointing if the safety tech I have been seeing since last year isnt going to be featured in the car here:
Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist, City Emergency Braking, Lane Assist and Fatigue Detection

Also no mention of the Progressive Steering, Dynamic Chassis Control and blind spot monitoring.

I feel cheated that they decided not to even offer these as options but will see if the dealerships have even heard of them on Saturday but not holding my breath.
 
Will the real Golf 6 stand up. This "7" edition is just a Golf 5.1.3, the "6" was a Golf 5.1.2. Bland and boring. Overpriced also.
 
I was at the event for the 3rd time today.

We were on the track doing a few hot laps in the car. Besides being quick (we were in one of the TSi's), it sticks to the road like glue!

This car is insanely impressive. They had the new BMW 1 Series, the new Focus hatch and ST, the new Honda Civic hatch and the previous gen Golf 6 along side the new Golf, and asked people to go physically sit inside and compare the differences between the all models - hands on.

The new Golf is leagues ahead in every nearly sense. The Focus ST is obviously faster, but still doesn't compare to the Golf overall.

The interior of this car is exquisite! Can't wait for the GTi!
