VW Golf 7

The model in those pics has the additional body skirting?

You clearly haven't seen it yet then. The interior is also completely different. They had the Golf 6 and Golf 7 side by side.

Of course there will be elements of the previous generation in it. Its a Golf. And that is how a Golf looks. It's the same for any other brand. You can't radically change the design. Either you like it or you don't. There are plenty other hatches out there.

I was at the event for the 3rd time today.

We were on the track doing a few hot laps in the car. Besides being quick (we were in one of the TSi's), it sticks to the road like glue!

This car is insanely impressive. They had the new BMW 1 Series, the new Focus hatch and ST, the new Honda Civic hatch and the previous gen Golf 6 along side the new Golf, and asked people to go physically sit inside and compare the differences between the all models - hands on.

The new Golf is leagues ahead in every nearly sense. The Focus ST is obviously faster, but still doesn't compare to the Golf overall.

The interior of this car is exquisite! Can't wait for the GTi!

Why does it have cheap skirts?
Is it standard or is this the Bluemotion?

So the replacement 1.4 TSI Highline is less powerful than the existing model?

It's 100kg lighter though, so performance is about equal.

I'm very seriously considering the 1.4 DSG model in the next year or so.

I must say the more I look at the pics the more it looks almost exactly like the Golf 6

Reminds me of the story, "The Emporars New Clothes" lol....

Far too Golf 6 for my liking as well.

Would love one of these though! New Seat Leon

I'd happily drive this. So beautiful and just  the design. Easy on the eye and not badly priced either. Lighter on its wheels and fuel consumption will definitely be better.

hmmmm. Seems pricey. Its definately not going to be fitted like the OP pictures standard (duh). throw in the dealership charges and bla bla bla and thats going to be one expensive golf >.< ..... people's car huh

I dunno I came close to buying the G6 35ed or the scirocco R. After specing up the normal 2.0 tsi scirocco it ended up the almost the same price as the R which made absolutely NO sense to me.

In the end I bought the toyota 86 because its a coupe and I like its looks. Though this golf is a very good car, just the fanbois have really spoilt its image for us normal folk. I do get tired of every golf trying to race me at every robot because my 86 has 4 pipes >.< gets old, and its soo annoying when you driving and these golfs come RIGHT UP behind you and you just chilling and driving.

BMW told me 480k for a 3series i walked out LOL ... who wouldve thought the M-kit was so expensive now :( (same with merc and their aventgarde/amg kit) and these cars look really horrible stock standard. Well guess you dont buy premium brands if you cant afford the extras.

I dont get the whole "its looks the same" thing btw. The last few generations of astons are the same and each one is damn good looking, so are the porsches (although there are major differences, maybe because im a porsche fan i dunno) but the golf looks good if you going to radically change the look might as well make it a whole new model and sell it in your line up with your popular shape.

So its made cheaply then ? where does this 100kg difference come from ? I dont think the g6 had weights in its design

This!

I don't understand when people say "it looks the same". It's a Golf! How else should it look? Like a Toyota?

The 7 is built on a completely new platform that saves weight by using lighter materials and is cheaper to manufacture as it's faster to produce and more standardised across the different models in the VAG family.

Looks like an inflated Polo. But that won't stop the fanboys. VW is laughing all the way to the bank.

The Golf 7 looks like a very nice machine. I'm certainly not a fanboy (if you felt so inclined you could check my posting history regarding VWs) but the G7 appears to be a very refined, well-rounded machine. Yes, it's quite conservative but that's what sells in this segment.

Anyone in this thread who implies that the new Golf is a **** car is undoubtedly just a hater.
