Anyways, I personally feel that the V5 is a good engine and very reliable if they well serviced and maintained.

I drove the car through out varsity, I got it from my dad. It's a 110 kw. Its currently on 365 778 kilometers and it's still a smooth ride.

Fuel consumption is good to, no one should lie and say its heavy. It only heavy with stop and goes.

Not back in the 90's I would think. Mostly the compactness of the engine, if I had to hazard a guess as to why that specific layout.

Well at a time when it came out it was big news.
It was way before turbo technology.
However still today, when going over hills and mountain roads you can feel the 5 cylinders pulling.
