Where are the WA guys tonight, I guess they are all in bed early tonight believing that their radius server is up to the chalenge. Bad news guys, you have forced me back onto my GPRS connection.

The 12PM disconnect came like clockwork, the reconnect did not.

I feel like freakin Cinderella, always have to leave the ball early. I know yesterday was Haloween, but do you have to continue to turn my router into a pumkin every night ?

Aaaaarrrrhhhhh !
 
We aren't in fact asleep and are aware of the issue and working around the clock on getting it sorted. It seems Telkom's system is not up to the task of having everyone disconnect and try reconnect at midnight. It looks like we will have to come up with some other solution for tomorrow.
 
Unfortunately we are still all here. (and at the office) Yes looks like its not up to handling synchronous disconnects.

Its only letting a few connect at once.
 
Recurring nightmare ............

Well it is not working for me, I am a night owl and I do a lot of work late at night as there are fewer distractions etc.

This is now a distraction.

How are other ISP coping ?

PS. It was a bad idea to tell me that you have a message board

If I wanted to be happy with something that does not work I would have bought myself an Alfa Romeo.
 
We've seen things returned to normal. Draad can you try connect again?
 
Also had the WA disconnect on me. Just been able to reconnect at 01:14.
 
Another nightowl here, tried to reconnect 01.12am with no joy. I will try again in a few minutes

I deleted some links from my favourites believing they are duds - LOL

guys the ISP's aren't the bad guys here, and i wouldn't put it past telkom to single out & disrupt specific providers services either. let's put it this way - would you have got a response from telkom internet this fast?
 
If you disconnect now and reconnect again then it won't happen to you, just so that the timeout code we had running up until about 5 minutes ago doesn't get applied to your account (and then you time out as you normally would every 24 hours).

Obviously there are some changes that are going to have to be made though, but this should prevent it happening again.

OK, managed to reconnect !

Will see you guys in about 10 hours again, then we will know if it worked.

Excellent, connected again. For a moment there I had that syncing feeling. Thanks for the dedication Matt and Richard, now go have a cup of java
 
Please accept our humblest apologies. The problem seems to be this.

Ironically because of our desire to provide accurate stats to clients, we changed over to midnight session timeouts (instead of random throughout the day). We made this change before Nov 1. However it now appears conclusively that the system post 1 Nov (Telkom AAA -> WA AAA) cannot handle the load of everyone trying to connect. I believe we are the only ISP that does this.

We have reverted back to non-uniform session timeouts to prevent it happening in the future.

Anyone who was affected feel free to PM me on the forum with the subject as your client code and will credit your account with an additional 1GB prepaid ("on the house") as a small indication of our seriousness in the matter.

At least it's working now.

Good to see the WebAfrica guys are still awake at this time of night.
 
In spite of these problems I remain amazed at the high level of customer service offered by WA.

You guys rock. Seems like I made a wise decision to move my connectivity over to you ;)

I see my ipcop managed to reconnect at 01h09 - the outage didn't affect me tho, I was snoring my head off. :p
