Hundreds of people in remote Aboriginal communities in Western Australia will be forced to abandon the land their families have lived on for generations.

The state government is reviewing plans to cut services to up to 150 towns.

The government says it is not about saving costs, but concern over reports that some communities are dysfunctional, plagued by substance abuse, alcoholism and widespread child sexual abuse.

Critics accuse the government of racism and failing to understand the importance of indigenous people living on ancestral land.

Their ancestors managed to live off the land without any government services.

Well if you have been there you will know why they are doing it.
Maybe If they send the Sirians there they could ( Muslims Don't drink iirc ) help them dry out..

And, now they can add no electricity and running water to their list of woes. Problem solved. I suppose the hope is that they will drift to other towns where there are support services for these issues but that's hardly guaranteed.

I don't understand it either to be honest. How is it important? Does it instill a sense of contentment that keeps them from turning to substance abuse and pedophilia?

Oz is becoming a lovely place.

Internment camps for refugees, censorship on the internet now forced removal for indigenous people.

And people call Israel an apartheid state.

Why is anyone claiming racism, are the affected people of a different race?

If thats the reason then South africa would be screwed :D

I don't know of any community that doesn't have this problem, so racism can't be overruled.

Racism isn't being overruled as far as I can tell. Anyone denying that Ozzies are a bunch of racist bastards? No? Ok, moving on.
