Hi guys

I'm thinking of buying a walking pad/jogging pad as I just don't have the physical space for a full blown treadmill. I looked at this option :

I can walk and I can jog on this and it takes up very little space. It can also fold almost flat. I wanted to know if there are any members here who have bought this specific option : It's called the Walking Pad R1 Pro. It's a lot more expensive compared to the Takealot jobbies I see all over the place. Figure I should spend more for something decent.

Price is around R16000.

Anyone have experience with these walking pads?

Working out and getting steps in the home works with my lifestyle and preferences better than doing all of this outside.

I work from home. Thought this walking pad would be a good option but if no one has used it or has any experience with it then its going to be a very risky purchase

You could always go outside for a walk/run and save yourself R16k...

If I wanted to do this then why would i create this thread? Clearly I don't want to do this outside. I want to do this in the comfort and privacy of my own home.

That is my preference.

Yours may differ. But when I read replies like this it really irks me so maybe don't contribute in this thread and go patronize someone else.

You are in the land of trolls my friend, just ignore them.

I hate the mall. Too congested, too much noise.
Go to a park that charges a fee. If you are in JHB, Walter Sisulu is really safe and you can walk as much as you want. R100 a visit.

I considered a walking pad also but as many others mentioned, if you have excuses why you can't walk around your area/mall then you actually won't use the thing and it'll be a waste of R16k. Build the habit and then buy the tools.

I'm also contemplating getting one, maybe the A1 Pro as I'm only really wanting to use it for walking. Looking for something easy to use at home and it weighs a bit less than the R1 and R2 models. The reviews on takealot looked good and I found a few youtube review videos as well. Might buy it a bit closer to winter as will be useful when I don't feel like driving to gym.

Its a question of convenience. Its far more convenient to use in the home where I work and live most of the time. I dont see how it would be a waste if it gets used as its literally fit for purpose.

I just wanted opinions from people that may have bought and have experience using these machines.

The "just go to the park or mall, or walk around your complex" type replies are not helpful in the slightest.

If I wanted to walk around the block or in a mall or at a park I would have done so and clearly wouldn't be contemplating buying a walking pad as that would be quite illogical. Obviously.

So the only replies I want in this thread are from members who have bought and have experience using these machines. If you don't have experience using these machines in the home then don't reply.

Simple really.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any way to demo this in Cape Town which is part of the reason I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I was thinking of the R1 Pro because I wanted to be able to jog and not just get my steps in.

Doesn't want to be patronised, proceeds to patronise.

Anyway you may think it's trolling or whatever but it's actually constructive advice. I have a bunch of equipment collecting dust because it's hard to keep the motivation going. It's money wasted.

For jogging and cycling specifically, the changes of scenery outdoors helps. Use it, don't use it. Buy the thing, or buy a treadmill, then come back in 2 years and tell us how it's going...

A treadmill in a place with the weather and outdoors of cape town is almost criminal. There's a reason nobody can help you with personal reviews... We don't buy these here.

Agree with the others if you want more "convenience" than using your legs to take you out of your gate and around the block, then you are definitely going to be wasting this money no matter what you buy. Nothing will be as convenient as staying on the couch.

I have the entry level model and can confirm it is good quality. It's really really convenient to get in a few thousand steps during workshops and meetings during work hours.

Can't comment on the model you are interested in though but the brand is legit.

My missus has the slazenger one... And from what I can see it's decent enough quality and looks to go fast enough for a bit of a jog as well if you want and it was reasonably priced.

Many thanks for the feedback! Can you please comment on reliability, any issues so far and how long have you had the machine for?

Thanks again for the reply.

We own:

although ours goes up to 10km/h, works great and seems to be decent quality so far, had about 3 months.

Edit: and i use it for jogging, 10km/h is is 6 min per km pace which is currently a lot faster pace than i can maintain so its 100% perfect.

Alas, that is not how MyBB, or in fact the internet, works.
