I have called a few places looking for the above with no luck. Anyone know where I can purchase it.

Just a heads-up, based on some recent installations in our block. Telkom do not like their cables (50V DC) anywhere near 240V AC electricity. It is possible that a combined RJ45 and power socket is not ICASA approved, which may be why it is hard to obtain...

Try Legrand.
They have a modular system that can give you what you want.

Not exactly what you are looking for but if you choose a plate + connectors you can make it look just like you want to :-)

It is a MajorTech Veti modular system. Looks very nice, but for such expensive product I would expect cover plate to click and latch without using hammer.

I saw recently similar system of a different company in Communica Midrand. Also expensive.

You are right, it is illegal in South Africa to put power cable in the same conduit as a LAN cable. For this reason it is pointless to sell mixed power sockets with LAN. It would be illegal to sell it, I think.

As for Telkom cables, I would never put anything like that in the close proximity to the other (power/LAN) cables.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread...

My wall socket, power cables comes from the bottom of the plug, so it seems like the power cables are running under the house, then the white pvc pipe that also enters into the same housing of the plug from the top of the house, this pvc pipe is currently empty. If I had to pull an ethernet cable through this empty pvc pipe, so the power cable is not running in the same conduit/pvc pipe then, would it still be considered as legal?

I think the issue here is that the power and ethernet meet in an 'unstructured' environment.

A live wire, wiggling loose inside the socket when you yank the vacuum cleaner out, might touch the ethernet, shocking someone on the other side of the house who was simply using the printer.

Legal or not, sounds like a bad idea to me...

Veti connectors are Cat5 only get 100mb which is annoying

I also bought linkbasic which are very cheap and look plain.

You get le grand and gewiss as well
