Wanatu cuts drivers' basic salaries and adds performance incentive system

Afrikaans e-hailing service Wanatu is changing drivers' compensation structures as part of a broader restructuring of its operating model and is revamping its app to address users' pain points.

Unlike drivers contracted with Uber and Bolt, whose earnings are based on the number of trips they complete and the distance they travel, Wanatu employs its drivers and pays them a guaranteed basic monthly salary.

They should get a domain from Vanuatu, i.e. VU

...reduced its guaranteed salary component for drivers as part of a new compensation model aimed at encouraging optimal performance.
don't worry everyone, i have a 50 day stream on duolingo in learning CEO-speak.

as far as i can tell, the sentence above translates to "the ceo wants a boat, so he needs to give away less money to employees"

Afrikaans uber confuses me. why not just uber alternative? Afrikaans guy picking you up and you must say in afrikaans where you want to go?
Seems like limiting your market a little, to people who are 99% bilingual.

"Wanatu confirmed that it had reduced its guaranteed salary component for drivers as part of a new compensation model aimed at encouraging optimal performance."

How do you encouraging people saying guess what you getting paid less now or need to work longer hours?

I am no fan of ANC government, but maybe they can be useful and use the labor law to sort it out! Because that's just BS!

Anyone can use wanatu. It's not just for Afrikaans people. Wanatu drivers can understand and speak English lol.

Their entire website is in English and you can book your ride in English. :)

They're just hiring Afrikaans drivers, that's all.

Going to give him the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes we just misunderstand things if we are not in the loop, "Afrikaans Uber" might come across as just that.

But he mentions telling the person where you want to go in Afrikaans, doesn't even work like that on Uber, you put the destination when booking the trip on app...
