Want a new PC, R17k budget.

Been out of the PC thing since Sandy Bridge came out, figured it's time to upgrade and get back into gaming again.

My current rig;

Intel Core i3 2125
GeForce GTX 550 Ti
No Name 8 GB RAM 1333mhz
Corsair GS 700w
I need a new case.

What else is there to mention?

I also would like a new keyboard, I been typing on this old HP one for too long. What keyboard do you recommend?
 
Im not too clued up on when DDR4 RAM is going to be released, but you could wait for that to happen and buy components accordingly.

8gb RAM is enough for gaming, but if your budget allows it you could get better RAM with faster timings. PSU is fine. You may want to get a 2k monitor? but they are pricey, and then you will need a gfx card with decent horsepower! high spec i5 or mid spec i7 should do fine, as long as it does not bottleneck your system.

So there are some ideas, if I had the time now I would actually advice on exact components (which is actually a fun thing to do lol)

This is not a "bad" PC, anything in particular that is not running well? I would recommend you try an ssd before you splash out.

What is a 2k monitor?

I plan on getting a decent GPU.
 
With a R17K budget, most solid rigs should be within your price range.

You can definitely pick up a top range i7 CPU, 16GB RAM and a decent 256GB SSD (+maybe an HDD as well).

You should probably also get a GPU with like 4GB of RAM (if it exists, I don't follow the PC Gamer market), 750W PSU and a decent cooling solution.

Those are the components I can think of, see if you can match them into your budget.
 
Get an ssd, change to i7...then see how much you want to spend on a new GPU.

I don't think you will get real value from scrapping this machine and just getting a new 17 k one.
Its still too new for you to see a lot of difference.

SSD = R1000-R1500
i7 = 2,7k - 3k not sure
3k on a new GPU

That will give you a lot of oomf for 6 k.

Imo you should try to find a i5 2500k, get a ssd and a new GPU.

Do a full upgrade when the new gen of processors and mem come out.
 
Re an upgrade....

New CPU and possibly MB to get to i7.
GPU, whichever one you get, make sure it doesn't have a crappy stock cooler, get one that has 2 or 3 fans to keep the noise down.
Alternatively, get a GPU and then go buy the relevant Arctic Accelero Xtreme for it. GPU Cost 3-4k.
Another 8GB ram.
256SSD boot drive + some games.

The PSU is fine.

I agree with this guys build, but since you have more cash, get an i7 instead of i5.

I'd also recommend it. It works wonderfully with an SSD.

I recently (2 weeks ago) got my new gaming PC. For waaaay less than your budget I got a (mini)monster PC with an i5 4670k, 8GB Corsair gaming RAM, MSI Z97 gaming mobo, Gigabyte R9 280X, Corsair 650W PSU, a 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD all wrapped up in a Bitfenix Colossus M. It's beautiful and a BEAST of a machine!

Granted, I had a decent monitor, keyboard and mouse...
