Warning! Log off your session before midnight tonight!

End of the month.

Remember to log off before midnight to avoid any current session bandwdith being taken from next month's bandwidth allocation.

This is especially important if you are intending to have a downloading binge tonight to use up this month's unused bandwdith.

You've been warned... :eek:

what is this "unused bandwidth"?

thanks for the reminder- I've been DL'ing a torrent all day- it runs at the same speed as it does before capping because of iburst's shaping, so I've run up a quite a few megs today...
 
this applies to ADSL aswell right? Since if a session goes over midnight, it gets placed half on one day and half on the other day. i.e ADSL guys go mad, download 4GB in a day, 2GB goes to previous month, 2GB goes to current month.

Yes it also aplies to adsl. Last time I forgot to reset before 12 it took the entire 3gig's I had done in the day of the next month's bandwith.
 
REALLY? so it's not just a iburst problem? but adsl as well??? I wonder if there is any correlation between iburst and dsl...
 
Yep it's also a dsl issue. With dsl it adds your usage once the session has been terminated and if that's the next day, tough luck :(
 
So how close to 12 o'clock could one go without losing bandwidth for next month? :)
 
My experience with adsl on saix is that all the bandwidth is allocated to the period when you logon ie if I start a 24 hour session at 11pm tonite my usage until 11pm tomorrow gets added to November. Has this perhaps changed?
 
That's not my experience, but I am on IS so it could be different. I had 100mb added to the next month when I terminated the session the morning of the next month.

Reason for this I believe is that all accounts usage are reset. Now when you terminate the session it adds the usage of that session to the stats and if those stats are 0 it's gonna add it to there. Just my little theory and what logic tells me. :/
 
mine is still capped speeds too, its always slow on the 1st few days though
 
This is the 1st month I've ever had this problem, but if I'm not the only one then I guess there must be a general problem right now.
 
My speed is definitely up from capped speed, maybe this is a continuation of the Cape Town issues you were seeing earlier?
 
Those of you with DD-WRT, I have a script at home that I use to automate this on the router. I think I've posted it elsewhere, but if you're interested I'll post it again later.
 
I was stupid and forgot again... but when I checked my router I had only been connected for 30 hours, and havent done anything much the last day on capped.

But as soon as I reset the router (and still getting my fixed IP?? I thought it HAD to change at the end of the month) I was uncapped again. But I have also had the problem of still being capped the next morning after the end of the month. I'm definitely not still at capped speeds btw.

It's on the <administration> -> <Keep Alive> tab. The section is, obviously, <Schedule Reboot> ...and I've just reset the time on the one here to 23:59 instead of the 03:00 I previously had it at.
