Warning : MWEB 4mb uncapped useless on rapidshare

Yes, that may be another concern. What is at issue here is the shaping, that was known upfront, right?!

They did say it is a shaped uncapped. Mweb REP also on the same day said the p2p will be shaped. So yes it was said upfront.

We finally get decently priced uncapped internet, and immediately the moaners start whining about how cr@p it is. What a wonderful world...

I wonder if this dude has a premium Rapid account, maybe he's using the free wait-for 9 years thing.

Aargh!

I just signed up for the 4mb uncapped mweb package.

To my dissapointment, I'm only able to download at a useless speed of 50kb/s from rapidshare.

What is the whole point of uncapped if you can't download from Rapidshare?

On my axxess uncapped accoount I can download at a steady 460kb / s

I'm going to cancel my mweb account with immediate effect - I'll rather spend R300 more and download at 10x the speed with axxess at night.

This is concerning, I was thinking of getting this but just how much bandwidth for my bux am I going to get? I mean this is an uncapped service, its meant to not care how much I get and let me get as much as I can... If I get anything less than 400gigs pm then Axxess is still the cheaper GB/R ratio.... :( Troubling news indeed

Yes, yes, go back to axxess. The less of your kind of user on the MWEB network, the better service I get :D

You know , everyone is going Apesheit about this MWEB thing. Let everyone jump over and let them test is for us. Are we really this bandwidth starved? Really... give it a little time and we will all see the results rigth here.

How many Gig's do you really need?

Feel free to cancel.

I'm 100% thrilled to see crazy leechers unhappy with this service.

I'm happy with it, and if performance stays as it has been so far, it's an awesome service that outstrips anything else I've tried for heavy browsing / downloading in the 60 to 100 gb range.

For the price of this service do you really need to download and hoard terabytes a month? Why not just download what you want when you want it?

I'm on the 384 package and currently getting around 16KBps on torrents and busy trying to download a 2MB file via HTTP and the time left is 1 day. So it's not performing that great.

but you were warned about this yesterday when the product was announced. Lots of people were warning you to be careful and go into this with your eyes open (including me). Did you not see us talking about that yesterday? Now all of a sardine, you are miffed cos you can't rape the account? What did you expect for that price?

Gary, I don't think you are being very fair.

I also did my homework, but before I sign, and MWEB are saying it's a quality product. It isn't like that crappy meal they serve in a restaurant where the quality is poor and you can pile your plate high. They claim this is the same as any other deal, only uncapped. Ring sales or marketing and ask them if you don't believe me.

AMEN TO THAT!
The ONLY reason there IS a restrictive ToS in the FIRST PLACE is because of the dudes who really ABUSE the service. Yes, it's uncapped, but so is a bottomless coke. Fair use is something that the South African market is going to have to learn before we start seeing first-world benefits of a civilized society. If you're going to use the excuse "I pay for the uncapped so I have a right to rape terrabytes after terrabytes off it every month" then please don't expect much from a these companies who are also trying to make a profit while pleasing everyone at the same time.
I don't think Mweb's accounts are too restrictive, nor do I think they're really going to do much to stop guys who use in excess of a TB/month, but I'm almost certain they put the smelly ToS there in the first place to DETER such users... and it makes perfect sense, I'd have done the same. I get a joyful feeling deep inside when I see the abusers get scared off by the ToS... more uncapped for the rest of us who just want to pay a fair rate and not have to worry about a cap if we want to download a few gigs here and there.

VIVA MWEB, VIVA VOX, VIVA OPENWEB, VIVA AFRIHOST =)=)

So what you're saying is get uncapped as long as you don't download too much.

I want' uncapped and I want to download 100 gigs a month, rapidshare at 450kb/s. Rapidshare is http so it shouldnt be shaped. Yes I want to download a lot. THat is what uncapped is for, duh!!

Even better... why not just ignore what they say (because we have heard so many conflicting reports).. .and look at what is actually in their fine print? At the end of the day it matters not what Susie in Accounts, or Hannah from Sales told you. It only matters what is in the contract that you signed. And for now it seems like they are living up to their terms and conditions... as I said they would do from the start. People who don't understand that only have themselves to blame.

because of the dudes who really ABUSE the service

Abuse is using the system to send spam mail, or hacking or the like. Using the line for downloads is not abuse. Seriously, South Africans need to learn that you shouldn't be afraid of the internet.

I see that abuse is considered different to each person.

Ultimately, it's MWEB's version of abuse that you should care about.

Thank goodness I can download at work on a uncapped Vodacom business line - 400KB/s all day, every day. ;)

Thank god I have a 320GB external ;)

The OP and a few others complaining here sound like kids to be honest.
Go ahead and cancel, leechers should pay a premium.

Why the fsck download a terabyte a month?
You're never going to be able to watch all that ****?

My friend in the UK has got a 20mb line that he raped for the first month or two, but then it became obvious that its not needed.
Download what you want when you want.

The internet is just not about downloads, if to you it is, then enjoy your hermit lifestyle.

Right now 100GB per month would do for me. But the world keeps changing. A few years from now there might be an online backup service I want to use to backup my 1TB hard drive once a month. All TV shows will one day be in 1080P, that would probably be 400GB per month just for my TV habit.

20 years ago, 100 Megabyte hard drives seemed completely impossible and unnecessary. Today it's 1TB of cap.

Why the fsck download a terabyte a month?

Obviously you don't know that 100gb is not 1tb. pwned.

WTF this is an uncapped account, that's what it's for. If you want to buy an uncapped account for browsing rather get a 3gb afrihost account for under R100 mate cause you're only posing as a leecher!
