Warning : MWEB 4mb uncapped useless on rapidshare

I don't know what to call it. Prioritising protocols is a flowery term for throttling specific ports. That's also over and above shaping, which is in place all the time.
Slowness is relative. If you are on 4Mb, then it doesn't feel so bad. If you are 384, then you probably are experiencing dialup speeds now. Simple browsing is hardly an issue, but that's not why we paid for uncapped, now is it? I understand the need to keep a lid on excessive downloads, but at least the service should improve considerably after business hours, which is rarely does (much).

To compound the problem, the underlying infrastructure is controlled by Telkom. So if things are slow on the Telkom side, we turn to MWEB and say it must be their shaping. It's a tricky business.

Well I switched back to my Do-broadband account and now maxing out my line. :)
 
Question

I am also on uncapped 4mb Mweb adsl, I don't have a problem with download speed for late at night I do get full speed. My problems start when I play battlefield, my connection is very slow. Mostly during the game I run backwards. What could cause this to happen? I have a Iburst connection as-well and it is much faster than my ADSL.
 
I have MWEB uncapped as well, no issues on BC2 at all, really fast... Try to find out a little about your ADSL line, like where the exchange is etc. could be something wrong with the physical line.

I got a long cable that runs to my pc from the router, quite a old cable, could be the problem. Will replace it and let you know what happens?

I forgot to mention, what server do you use? Africa ones or international? I have around 30ms on SGS and iGame servers. I don't use international ones.

I too have a 4meg mweb uncapped and I have only been getting 1 meg downloads at night and on the weekend..I also have a rapidshare account
why do other guys get 4meg at night
when i download drivers etc i get my full 4meg

Well, uncapped Mweb 384 here and I have yet to be able to actually complete a ****ing Rapidshare download. :mad:
 
Are there any setting i need on my router perhaps to get my full meg at night from mweb
cause i noticed some dudes get up to 00 at night yet i only get up to 1 meg

sorry dudes my 3 and 4 on my keyboard does not work too well...i meant do i need any setting on my router to get my full 4meg at night cause im only getting 1meg
 
MWEB is useless on everything, Rapidshare, Hotfile, Filesmonster, Sharingmatrix, etc. My ave dll today had been 12.6kbps. On a 4meg line?
 
Yeah at the moment i am getting 65....hope it gets better later tonight...
i see it jumped up at 7pm..but still useless for all the extra money were spending

hmmm they should market it as an off hour package... for downloads n stuff...

Odd hour package - when they feel like - flicking the switch.

It's just strange how during my initial period with Mweb - my megaupload worked like a dream at mweb, and now - it makes you want to spew.

Once in a blue moon you see some form of improvement.

So now I have a rig running 24/7 - once a better option than mweb pops up - I will move over.

I agree, ive had the same experience when it initially came out, ive tried asking them if they would go back to the same as they were well vague.... they posted they reducing shaping but hell this is crazy, i mean really u shouldnt need to have something on 24/7... you shouldnt need to run ur electricity bill and add extra wear on your computers and hardware...

i even suggested maybe shape/throttle those who abuse like after a certain figure they obviously know their break even - why punish everyone ALL the time....

crazy!
