Warning: Uninstall Apple QuickTime for Windows now

Sounds like your countless computers are either underspecs or miss-configured or both.

I have no issues playing massive Gb blue ray movies at all.

I'm not sure what happened to my sig but I'm running 24 threads at 4.4 GHz with 48 GB RAM... And I'm not the only one.

What size are your MKVs? Mine are in the 30-60 GB range. Up until around 18 GB VLC does OK, above that it just falls apart altogether. Here's a clear example. For each frame, VLC is at the top and MPC is at the bottom. The MKV is just over 30 GB.

What on earth is quicktime?

I haven't heard that name or even seen it since I last ran a win98 machine...

Are you using the hardware acceleration in VLC or not? The setting can have a definite quality impact either way.
