Warning! Western Cape Traffic Tactics!

This morning on my way to work, at the Bosmansdam turn off, I saw (not the first time) a white "older model" Toyota Camry with tinted windows.

I had 2 trucks with lots of rubble infront of me so I parked a little ways back - because of this, and the 'sun' overhead, I could see into the car and in the car was a guy looking through a camera (mounted in the back seat) :mad:

I'm not entirely sure what they were trying to 'capture' but suffice to say, if you see this vehicle or I guess, any vehicle parked on the side of the road with tinted windows (not that you can see it till it's too late) just don't do anything wrong!

I guess they are trying to find new ways into catching people - I'm hoping they were trying to catch TAXI's and such doing funny stuff, because at this spot (and I've posted before about it) they normally drop road blocks for TAXI's every now and again.
 
Thanks for the tip Gdiza. You have to be "skelm" to catch out the "skelms" hehe.
 
oo I never saw any car... I drove past there at about 8:50.

I see they started to paint all the camera's BRIGHT Yellow so surely this kind of steal ninja speed trapping can't be legal anymore?
 
umm....gdiza go and read up laws on trapping in W Cape, the camera needs to be visable from 30m away....its in some guideline and act somewhere :)

so that guy in the camry...tomorrow morning stop behind him, take out your camera ...take a pic...tell him he is performing an illegal act and then keep the evidence incase he tries anything :)

....also pics or it never happend :)

Show me exactly where it says that, legal and all and I'll do that - I am not doing it till then!!!

I'm not going on SAY SO I wanna see proof.
 
Not legal on their part. Not sure what you saw, but I doubt it has anything to do with traffic violations (well not speed violations at least). And the likelihood of them using a camera as evidence of you not using an indicator when turning is slim to none imo...
 
DJK, I know what I saw... I wanted to pull out my phone and take a picture, but I didn't wanna take a chance - I know I saw a camera, it was clear as day - so what were they doing then if it's not legal.
 
How would I know? Could be a million reasons why they have a camera, but it certainly won't be to "trap" you...
 
its illegal..to have the camera in the car (must be a TRi-pod on the ground) & it must be visible 30m away..there was a carte blanch episode about this
 
So if the windows are tinted, then how do you know what you saw is 100% accurate? You do have a penchant for the dramatics...:p
 
The camera has to be visible 30m away, yet they hide in the shrubs and bushes between lanes?!
 
yes well if u take a pic of them as evidence am sure u could get out of the fine....aswell as void all violations he/she recorded that day
 
yip if you take a pic of them hiding/camera not on the ground..take a pic..if you get the fine, then "PROTEST"
 
Remember to also take a photo of yourself, so you can show the judge what you looked like before you took a photo of the cops, and they kicked your head in.

I don't understand - do we want some law and order, or do we want anarchy and castrati for cops??
