SA has been criticised for the move with some suggesting it had chosen the side of the oppressor. Ramaphosa, however, said this had not been the case.

“There have been some who have said that in abstaining from the vote condemning Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, SA has placed itself on the wrong side of history. Yet SA is firmly on the side of peace at a time when another war is something the world does not need, nor can it afford.”

Ramaphosa defends SA's stance on Russia-Ukraine conflict

Which mad man? Putin, or the Whacko in Belarus?

Any...

Placing nukes on high alert can even cause general to lose sight and fire. Hell even a sub commander can se a US move as hostile and think "for mother russia wile punching in The code."

Russia has no business in Ukraine. Putin is a complete bully by every account. But either put up or shut up. The sanctions are already hurting them, though politicians (including Putin) are all floaters, so no matter where the water level in the shitter is, they'll be on top. But trying to browbeat countries into a stance when those countries are literally dependent on trading with everyone is also bullying.

I have a suggestion, lets dump all our military brass, politicians, oligarchs etc. in a pit and let them have it out while the rest of us just get on with our goddamn lives, and each other.

The war is wrong, but yet again, the war was caused by the US trying to push Nato further and further into the east. I'd also be very angry and feel threatend if Botswana wanted to put nukes pointing towards South Africa.
Assuming we are talking about the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

It shows how cowardly our "leaders" are, that they are too lily-livered to take a stance for common decency. I am quite convinced that some wanted to vote with pos pootin. Abstaining is cowardice.

You must have been watching RT and Fox news. - all fake and total BS.

Last week I would have straight away voted No. Attacking a country and causing the deaths of innocent people and destruction of property is never justified.
Then I started finding videos on Youtube that stated historical and present facts. Here is an example. Gravitas Plus | Explained: The Russia-Ukraine crisis and another Why Russia attacked Ukraine | Russia Ukraine war Explained
I also came across a reader letter on the Sowetan.
We're-on-the-eve-of-world-war-3/. There are a few inaccurate sentences, but the gist of the story is quite worrying.
Reasearch and become informed, things are not always just black and white.

Your point is moot as NATO countries already borders with Russia.

You really think nuclear fire codes are in the hands of individuals?

It is. Despite that approval is required from the SOD in the states the Gold codes are literally written onto a card covered in a breakable plastic casing in the President's wallet. They call it the Biscuit.

I think the 8 yr war in Yemen should also be on the UN agenda and USA and Britain should be told to withdraw support for that one as well. Maybe we abstained because we follow China Vote no to all war.
