Washing Machine

Just get one of the 7.2 Samsung /LG ones toploaders. I bought one 5 years ago on a special at Marko or Game cant remember for R1100. Works like a charm!

(And then you get 5kg front loaders who are double my budgeted amount, but I hear the higher price are for the higher efficiency they provide).
Yip. What front loaders offer: lower energy and water consumption (our washing machine is rated A+, 6kg capacity), less washing powder and usually less noise. Sadly you'll have to triple your budget if you want a good front loader.

http://www.bosch-home.com/za/products/laundry/washing-machines/WAE24468ME.html?source=browse - 7kg capacity, A++ energy rating.

You could also look at a Defy front loader. Mine has been running for close on 25 years and only needed to have one seal replaced during that time. It will be much cheaper and easier to repair if necessary in the future than an imported machine.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm budgeting R2000 for the washing machine and looking to buy it cash. I hear what some of you are saying regarding the 13kg, but I don't think you can get a decent one for R2000. (And then you get 5kg front loaders who are double my budgeted amount, but I hear the higher price are for the higher efficiency they provide). My wife also says 13kg, but I think 8kg should suffice for us for now, we can always upgrade later on.

To the guys who own that model or a similar one. What is the noise-level of it? We live in a flat on the second floor, so don't want to be a nuisance for others.

We have 2 kids, and the 8kg is more than fine for us! I really do not have a problem with that size.
