Watchmen

Yes if you really wanted to "get" the movie you either had to e a fan of the comics or you should have done some research.

Im sure, hence the reason several times in this post I mention I guess you have to know the lore to get the movie.

I really dont want to read back story material to get this movie though thanks. Ive got other genre`s of scifi to keep me busy for a long time still. Ill leave "getting" the movie to people with loads of spare time or who have already read the lore.

You do love research so why not do some

1) Rorschach

2) Nite owl

3) Silk Spectre

No it was meant to a bit deeper than transformers 2 or Batman and robin......

:erm: thanks for that, but the movie really didnt inspire me to care much more about it other than to start this conversational post. I have a full time job that limits the amount of recreational information I can research. Ill leave that to people with more spare time or who are really into the storyline.

w1z - I highly recommend the books though. They represent a major turning point in the history of the comic book medium. Very seminal.

Seriously? It took me 1 hour of reading and I was "in the loop" (so it would probably take you 10 mins). For a movie based on a comic book and not meant for the average 4-17 yo im sure the may expect some reading/research. But each to his own, I enjoyed it but I don't expect anyone else to enjoy it.

I though it was a Crap movie. I even fell asleep some way in the first half.

The guys who read the book or comic book or illustrated novel or whatever they call it will disagree, and say its the greatest movie ever.

Thought I was the only one that fell as sleep during the first half.

But I also did not read the book or comic book.

Watchmen was definitely not supposed to be the feel good, superhero romp that Spiderman or Batman are. Its not a superhero film, its more like a film noir about the Cold War, with deeply flawed, ordinary people who just happen to wear fancy costumes. Yes, the screentime given to the blue peen disturbed me:eek:. SO later explained it was a way of showing how distant/removed Dr Manhattan was becoming from humans & their sensibilities.

Zing! I'll leave that alone. :D I read the wikipedia entries & the imdb pages afterwards. The original story was so far ahead of its time in both content & production. I totally agree with your point about the history. Its worth reading for any comic fan.
