Right, so i have been interested in getting a nice water cooling system going but i've never tried water cooling before so i want to get a kit rather than build one myself... I wouldn't mind buying a case and a water kit separately and then add them together but i just thought that this would be more practical than having an external water system... If u guys think i should go for something else please could u recommend a kit + a case that will work nicly with that kit.

Thanks :)

Oh and once i have a water block can i buy new water blocks separately in SA when new boards and cpus come out? Cuz if i get this guy i would keep it for a looooooong time. It is quiet $$$ pricy

Have read some reviews and besides the weight (19.5 kgs!!!) its worth its money for the bits and pieces if they were bought separately.

ive got a gaming bomb i leave the cover off and have a big fan (those ones your buy from clicks for like 199 )
when i play games i switch the fan on

cool my hdd cpu and vga

my cpu never reaches 40 unload with it
my hdd temps stay under 23
my vga card never goes over 47

plus it keeps my mb cool

so it does an amazing job at a cheapish price

That is the best option, only 2 problems. It does not have the Brand Name Thermaltake... and its a fan so it makes a noise. There is one thing about those case though, they look nice and work well but really they are not worth the money.

it only makes a noise when gaming and i use a headset so i dont even notice it

well yes if you want to spend a kuk load on a brand name then yes
but if you want a cheap cooling option so you could perhaps buy new hardware then this way works awesome

:)

any other cases and kits i should look at? just want to find the best value for money... My current PC is just pretty loud with 3 80mm fans a big CPU fan (gigabyte g power pro), my GPU and a cooler master cooldrive 4. And its in my room so it can get annoying when i want to sleep. is water cooling going to be worth it or should i get a better case with 120mm fans?

Here's what I've found with Thermaltake products....
NOT UP TO SCRATCH!

TT is over-rated in almost every product they have and particularly their water cooling kits.
The TT Bigwater is particularly bad in that the pump is of the worst quality ever. In fact yu'll be better of with the cheapish Evercool products and they are far from perfect.

Get the Astek kits or one of the Koolance casse that come with an Astek water cooling kit. They are of very high quality and have some parts interchangeable so you could upgrade the radiator/ pump/ block etc... There aren't many better products than the Astek stuff when it comes to water cooling.

Also note, that some fans will provide serious cooling hat is close to water cooling (lets face it, H2o will only be as cool as the ambient temps... :( ). The only worthwhile product from TT is their Typhoon with the 120mm fan. Or you could get the Thermalright XP120 also with a 120mm fan.

However if you really wanna try the TT stuff, then maybe you'll be luckier than many (including me). As I've had 3 cooling kits from TT & 2 from Evercool. All the TT ones are no longer working, and I eneded up selling the Evercool units because I couldnt get the correct blocks for me CPU.

I had watercooling, don't bother. a Good heatsink with some artic silver is much quieter and much more effective....

plz tell me more about it, all your thoughts as im probly going to get one.

I also need help with cooling...
new pc coming in 3 weeks and havent even thought about cooling. I just want something that works well, i want something quiet but doesnt have to be completly silent (PC is in my room so i need something thats not gona keep me awake) Any suggestions?

Specs: Case = gigabyte aurora / coolermaster centuriun 5
CPU = athlon x2 4400+
GFX = 7800gtx(hopefully x1900xtx if price drops a bit)

Just standard Air cooling and a good artic silver paste works just was well. You might have more noice because of the fans, but it works out a hell of alot cheaper.

Yes air is much cooler... Hmmm... anyone got a coment on the P180 cuz reviews say its quiet but nothing like someone actually using it and saying they like it.

What do you want to know?

It's very light - predominantly aluminium, but it's sturdy.
You only use a screwdriver for mounting the mobo.

All the drives are fitted on rails, and have locking mechanisms to keep them in place. There's TONS of drive bays. It has a metal door with a lock that covers the drive bays and power/reset switches. There are some convenient ports (usb/firewire/sound) located on the right side of the front panel plate.

It has some big ass fans, which are quite noisy for a few secs during reboot - as soon as the bios kicks in again, the fans drop to a very quiet level.

There are blue LEDs all over the thing so it glows a very bright blue. Looks quite funky at night.

The side access panel has a grille and is lockable. It has a convenient release catch, so you don't need to battle your a$s off to get the cover on/off. (It also has thumbscrews like you would normally expect.) There is an optional add-on side panel replacement that provides a transparent view port. I haven't seen it tho, so I can't comment.

The bottom of the front panel has a transparent piece that by default causes the 'Aurora 3D' logo to be projected on the floor. They provide a blank and instructions on how to go about creating your own. -- Seriously, I wouldn't bother, unless you don't plan on keeping the enclosure on the floor.

IMO, get a kit from a "proper" manufacturer. ThermalTake sell funky-looking, not-so-great-functionality-wise-but-kuk-expensive equipment.

I got mine (WaterChill) from Synapsys http://www.synapsys.co.za

no, I don't work for Synapsys. The owner is an enthusiast and very willing to help if you need it.

I went with the Aquagate-Mini. No mess, no fuss just take it out of the box as is and install. Only had slight incompatibility problems with my motherboard which took me a while to sort out.

Other than that it's quiet and with the cold front that came through Gauteng this weekend my load temps dropped to 34 degrees on my 3200+.

Yeah, have decided against taking the metaphorical plunge into water cooling... Just for a GPU water block for a nivdia 7800 cost R1000 + CPU (R400-600) + all the basics i'm looking at well into the thousands (R3000 for a whole water cooled PC) so would rather just get a nice case :)

Damn these cool yet over priced thingys.
