Water Damaged Nokia 5.1

So my Nokia 5.1 met a watery demise over the weekend. Not a lot of water but obviously just enough in the wrong places.

It makes an occassional vibrate and if you try turn it on, it vibrates so obviously some charge left in the battery. Beyond that it's a pretty brick right now. When inserting the charger it doesn't register at all, which tells me the charging port/motherboard is fried.

Without seeing the phone, what are the odds of fixing it? It's a prepaid phone and don't have insurance. With water damage I don't see it lasting much longer even if I do get it working again, so am looking into a replacement anyway. But if I can at least turn it on, I'd like to as their are some sentimental pictures I would like to retrieve. I took it to cell phone store near me and he didn't seem too confident it could be repaired.

Also, my sd card was mounted onto the device to act as internal storage. Would their be any way of retrieving that data? I imagine I would have to format the card before it will work on another handset.

Is my phone just a paperweight?

Yeah it's sitting in rice for about a day and a half now, no signs of life

It makes no difference at all. The rice method is nonsense.

Yeah I figured it's mostly BS. But literally have nothing to lose so at least worth a shot
