A letter in Business Day:

"Lulu Letpale of Telkom, in her letter, Telkom register (November 28), seems to be very impressed by Telkom’s latest results.
I cannot share her enthusiasm and admiration.

Telkom operates in a monopoly, and charges us the world’s highest rates for telecommunications.

Against this backdrop, one would have expected their results to be a lot better than what they achieved. It’s this kind of arrogance that makes Telkom the most hated corporation in the country."

Succinct and to the point. Although someone will have to translate it into double-speek for telkom to understand it.

Many a true word spoken in jest. It's a pity they have done what they have to their customers, they have a lot of ground to cover to improve their image and regain people's trust. It's easy for them to be what they should have been a long time ago but as the general mentality goes there will be a long wait before any kind of attempts at winning over the public.

Until then the 'most hated corporation in SA' will unfortunately ring very true for them.

Lets see what the SNO brings? Maybe their attitude will change when thousands of customers leave them out of pure spite alone.

RPM. can you maybe make a poll re this?

Which of the following companies do you hate the most?
Telkom
Sentech
WBS-Iburst
Vodacom 3g
MTN
CellC
Wireless Operators
None of the above.(just in case you have no opinion)

Is Telkom officially the most hated company (in other words, was a poll done)?

Would be interesting, since in a few (biased and loaded) polls, they were the most loved?

/sings

i don't dislike telkom
oh no
i hate them

/that's the chorus btw - c'mon SA we all know the words....lets sing along

[dominic has been on telkomhold for 17 minutes and counting]

Poll was done(sort of), see Hellopeter.

Yeah, I saw that - not that relevant though, since only people with access to the internet will have been able to contribute (and we all know what a staggering high preportion of RSA that is!)

Would love to have a "Raspberry Award" type thing where the "winner" of WORST COMPANY EVER is Telkom. In fact, they may well be the only company that needs to send a representative to collect, as they will leave other companies with nothing to collect.

One thing that just occurred to me... the SNO are going to need to get a lot of people with experience it telecommunications to work for them when their doors open properly.

Would you rather work for the most hated company in the country, or a company that gives people a [tiiiiiny] shred of hope?

I hope all the people how have a clue at Telkom jump ship and take their skills over to the SNO

I think alot of that is going to happen. Maybe Telkom would increase the staff salaries ten fold, but some how I seriously doubt it. It is going to be very interesting to see what happens when the SNO starts up.

They probably have some ridicolous non-disclosure, "cannot work for someone in the same industry" type contract. Would not surprise me.

I no longer care. I don't care about helping Telkom improve their service. I don't care about helping them do better. I want off this ship NOW and I am happy to sit with an alternative provider and point and laugh and the mess that is Telkom. I hope they NEVER recover. I hope they NEVER get better. Die, Telkom, DIE!!

Changing attitude as a survival mechanism is not going to swing it for me.
Telkom can take their business and shove it as soon as I have an alternative.

I am one one them. I will always be cancelling my Vodacom contract as soon as its up and moving over to another provider. I want nothing to do with a company that is linked to Telkom in anyway. Its a pitty though, Vodacom support has been realy good, but as the say it the west... **** happens.
