We should work together!

Why are my posts being deleted? Is this discrimination because I am African?
They're getting deleted because they're off-topic, inflammatory, and without any intellectual merit.

P.S. I'm also an African. ;)

And I'm a soutie.

Sorry but reality bites! Last night on CNN they showed some squatters in SA living in a cemetry. I bet they just luv the rich (black or white) and can't wait to work together with us for a new SA. Well we won't have to wait much longer ...soon all of ZIM will be living in SA and SA=ZIM2.0 will be a reality. Can only imagine how much fun it will be with in 2010 with ZUMA as president and the Rand = 0.00000000000001 US $

(and mark my words, there are more black racists in this country!)

Very funny!!

You seem to be under the misapprehension that there are people who want the country to fail. Let me reassure you that this is just nonsense. Anyone with a brain knows that failure will be bad for everyone. The currency will take a dive (further), investments will fall, property values will plummet etc etc. so who exactly would want that I ask you>???

Does this sound like someone who wishes for anything good???

You remind me of the nay-sayers during apartheid who were warned about what was happening by people like me, and how it would all end in tears and we were ignored. Don't make the same mistake as the Afrikaner regime of the 80's.

Naysayers??? You're the nayssayer here!!

Sadly I don't see the situation in SA improving any time soon.
Even the black middle class who are growing in numbers aren't interested in rubbing shoulders with their own kind.
Case in point being the "530-seater Soweto Business Express" train in Soweto for the rich.
- Professional security personnel
- Well dressed hostesses serving tea and coffee
- Free news papers

I've NEVER seen a luxury car driven by black people give money or food to street beggars at traffic lights or on the pavements. They just sit behind their tinted glass and ignore the poverty around them. Are they above everyone else including their own kind?

So we have a divide growing between black and white and black and black.
It's an economic divide and it's going to get worse not better.
Even if the rich were forced to give their money to the poor it would just make every one poor like it did in socialist countries because the poor don't generally have the capacity to grow wealth - they just blow it on "nice stuff" and then everyone has nothing.

People are upset - there are demonstrations nearly every week due to poor service delivery but they just get squashed with rubber bullets and tear gas like in the apartheid era. Oh the irony ...
Why do you think the ANC make so many empty promises and stir up the racist rhetoric all the time? It's to keep the poor masses content to avoid an uprising while they ride the gravy train (smoke screen tactics).

According to my observations, this is true. Funny hey! But then I also noticed the other day that the black beggar walked straight passed the black merc with a black driver in front of me, and came to my car and stopped at my window.

This thread alone shows that we will never be able to work together.....sure there are people out there working together, seeing themselves as different tribes to one great nation, but thats on a micro scale (more power to them!!), we have too many "leaders" trying to cover their own idiotic ideals to ever work together

Strange how the beggers know who will give and who won't. ;)

Well pointed out Gothan.

I, however, feel that the only way to go forward IS to work on a micro scale.
I don't have the ability to change the whole of South Africa.

I do have the ability however to change things on a micro level. I can help the poor out in my area by donating my time and money. I can empower people by creating jobs that take them off the street. I can work to educate the youngsters coming up through the school system to become computer literate by providing training. etc etc

There is lots that an individual can do to lift up their own neighbourhoods. Micro levels are good if there are thousands of people doing the same thing on a countrywide scale. That would be where I see things changing. If all of us that thought about making a go of it, could each do something right within their own commuities, it would make life better for everyone.

That said, all of this has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with education. The more people we can educate the better off this country will be. If I can teach someone to think for themselves and see opportunities to create their own wealth by helping others then I have done what I need to do. The pay-it-forward concept for want of a better word.

As a great man once said,
You will get what you want, if you help enough other people get what they want.-Napolean Hill

They're simply exploiting all that suppressed white guilt.:D

White guilt? What should the white people feel guilty about? I give the beggars money because it's another human being who deserves to eat at least one good meal a day (even if he uses the money I gave him on booze).

Y'all are feeling guilty, just admit it. There's nothing wrong with that. If not, why do you give money knowing full well that the guy's only gonna get booze?? We on the other hand, know exactly the circumstances from which the guy comes. No black man needs to do that (We've been through worse), and that's why "some" black people don't give. Demeaning yourself on the streets all in the name of money ticks me off frankly. I only give money to paraplegics.

I would rather buy booze than food as well if I was in his situation. Hasn't anyone bought you a drink before?

No wonder you're so damn negative, not enough happy juice... :)

I do not give money to any beggar of any colour (the whole fish vs fishing thing).

I did help a lady who ran out of juice the other day. I pushed her car to her house (thank goodness it was only 4 houses away). This took place in Daveyton.

I could rant for pages.

All comes down to one number: 88%

In the 2005/2006 report, only 12 percent of government departments had clean audit opinions, four percent at provincial level, and there was no clean audit opinion in local government so far.
Financial report paints bleak picture July 12 2007

and:

South Africa is not getting a proper return on its investment in the 1.6 million people employed in the public sector, says Finance Minister Trevor Manuel.

The basics.

Culture-ism is not racism.

Fact is; only 4% of government departments passed muster. 8% sort of passed. The rest failed. These departments are delivering education, health, services, etc. Except they are not delivering, ie, most failed. This means people have no running water, no tar roads, no lighting, no sanitation, little education in the barest circumstances (could be extended throughout africa.) This widens the gap between the haves and the nots. Traditionally white verse black due to our history. BUT if government was delivering (instead of failing every year for 13 years) THEN we would be a lot further down the road. The service delivery protests are not against 'whites' they are against an inept government. Mbeki of course would prefer to think this a conspiracy.

(Have to say) BobbyMac is the most 'balanced' on this thread. Why? Because he received the education, the values, the ethic of a western person: which is (best form) beyond colour. (How far so many need to go to understand this simple concept!) We have cultural differences; many do. Culturism does not equal racism. It is what it is. BobbyMac (assuming) was raised in a western industrial culture: running water, flushing toilets, health care. Perhaps he or his parents imbibe cultural things? Does it matter? No. Because all are equal and we will be friends with who we will. Education and common values (health, sanitation, education, access to jobs or the means to create them whether by mind/idea or physical labour.) The basics. This government is not delivering the basics (88% fail.) This government is widening the colour gap by their failure. I sit here dry (raining outside) how many are sitting wet? WHY? (And its not because the country doesn't have the money; even though there are only 3,5 million taxpayers!) 88% failure rate. That simple really.

Everything is a conspiracy to Mbeki. His government (to any qualified notion) is a failure: 88%. 13 years. Are we not glad the afrikaaners built so good. How have we managed it? Certainly a few years back the perception was: freewheeling. Little to no infrastructure built (power, urbanization, ie, drains, ditches, healthcare.) Or any care really. And here we are. We have come this far despite the government (Trevor, Alec Irwin *spit.*) Exports, tourism, euphoria.

Back in the pit. Why? 88% leading to crime, dissatisfaction. Capitalism says government can't create jobs. Only industry can create jobs; except what do we have? Maybe we should import labour from China to build the roads, the infrastructure (tarred townships, water and sanitation) 'cause nobody else seems to be doing it? And that is the tragedy and the crime by government. People living in squalor while they squander the wealth (can't account for it: 88%) The afrikaaners (and yes the english and the dutch and the germans and the african black people) built a nation: the basics. They delivered. 100%. Yes mostly to the whites. But equal measure is not in evidence despite the [-]health[/-] wealth of the country.

I truly despair. I fear for all of you. I can leave but don't want to; especially to leave 'this' behind. Beauty apparent. Horror extreme.
