OK, so a little vent at how bad www.weathersa.co.za 's forecasting models are:

This whole weekend up to yesterday they have been predicting massive rain in CT, so far nothing substantial. Then today we are predicted to have a full 0% rain, guess what, its raining. What really peeves me is when I went on yesterday it said 60% rain, 30mm and 80% for today. It didn't rain yesterday. Then today it says 0% and it has been raining pretty much the whole day so far on and off.

How can you have 0% chance on your prediction for the day when it is raining at your weather stations and weather prediction offices? Seriously WTF? Surely you can just go on quickly and change it to 40% or something to save face?

Generally their predictions are bad, then they still try to sell you their "premium" service? Who in their right mind would pay for that??

I stopped using WeatherSA awhile ago when they started putting stuff behind a paywall.....

WindGuru does the job just as well, if not better than WeatherSA and they do it with worse data (if thats even possible)

and this is news?

No, but it is usually after the news. ;)

I like E-Nuus Weather on Kyknet. They have some eyecandy on there sometimes. Then I have to check the weather on Weatherbug because I missed the whole forecast.

Heheheheh.... I feel your pain!

Here is another weather site I use... so far so good...

these two sites are better and accurate.

http://www.yr.no/

http://www.wunderground.com/

Hmm, I found www.yr.no to be fairly innaccurate as well, weathersa actually were better than them a few times. Will try out wunderground and see how they go.

Windguru is pretty cool, amazing that they can do so much more with less.

Will try weather24.

I just can't believe with the resources they have weathersa can't do a better job. I REALLY can't handle them saying 0% rain when they can just look out the window and SEE the rain (song coming to mind here "have you ever seen the rain"). Seriously if it was raining on your way in to work HOW do you put up 0%????

I friend of mine showed me a sailing site a while back that was brilliant, I wish I could remember the url. It predicted a wind change at a specifica time of day on a specific beach (12pm wind would turn SE and suddenly go to 25km/h). True to form at 12:10 the wind had shifted and was howling. We had already packed up and watched the other peoples confusion as they chased their umbrellas down the beach.

If I get hold of it I will post it.

weather forecasting in SA generally sucks. just another industry keeping people that would otherwise not have work, in work. they have their excuses, but ffs, is it really that hard to stick their heads out the window?!

remember a mate who worked high-up in an unnamed CPT newspaper telling me that when the person that did the weather in afore-mentioned unnamed newspaper passed away, they just gave the job to the receptionist there. just goes to show...

I agree that Weathersa often exhibit the most ludicrous incompetence. 2 Days before Underberg was buried in a foot of snow a few weeks ago, weathersa had predicted the Underberg weather to be 18°C and dry for that day. Almost every other site I visited was all predicting icy conditions and snow for this area.

http://www.snow-forecast.com/maps/dynamic/southafrica this site is pretty good at showing where rain and snow are likely, click on "play all" to see an animation of the week's outlook.

I know! With no tumble dryer, I wasn't planning on doing laundry yesterday cause of weatherSA...
