Web Africa ADSL general feedback

We use the internet at home for Gaming (Include steam, Origin and Uplay downloads), downloading, streaming, browsing, etc. Since getting a 4K tv we have been going for better quality viewing so when I do stream, etc for the TV it will all be in 1080p so our average usage for the last 3 months has been about 270GB per month.

I think the usage for the last couple of months has also been a bit higher due to a bunch of downloads from steam and PSN, so a capped account wouldn't really work for us (Pc is in the same room as me, so can't leave it on through the night to download).

You can give our Home Uncapped a try and see is it works for you or not. Please click here to see the Bandwidth priority profiles: http://goo.gl/kD7Eur

So for the past couple weeks my 4meg line has been down on speed during the evenings (youtube was just a series of moving blocks on the screen). Opening a ticket with WA last week got me a slight speed increase this past weekend when they somethinged the port... but so far this week the speed during the evenings has been terrible. Youtube won't play anything more than low quality, and even then it needs to buffer a lot. Other streaming doesn't work at all.

I've checked early in the mornings at +- 6am and the speed is fine then... WA seems to think it's a Telkom issue, I think it's time for a new ISP...

Also, should mention that it's not just streaming... opening any of the gawker media sites is pointless, as the images take ages to load, if they do at all.

Hi,

So sorry to hear this :( Is this issue still ongoing?

This is happening now again this evening. I have to add that I'm using Unotelly's DNS service, so it may be because of this ?

Hi,

Sorry for the slow connection you're experiencing in the evenings. Please PM me your account details so I can help.

Hi,

Do you normally have issues when you are streaming - in general?

Hi,

Do you normally have issues when you are streaming - in general?

Nope, not really, streaming works fairly good. Since the post above, I changed my primary DNS server on my router to their server in the UK, and for now it seems to be OK, maybe their SA DNS servers are having issues? Will check again this evening when I'm home.

Thanks

Hi,

Your refund was processed today and it takes up to 72 hours (depending on your bank) for the funds to reflect after it has been processed by our Billing team.

Thank you :)

Are you guys planning on updating your site to remove the money back satisfaction guarantee?

Hi,

No, our packages do come with a 30-day money back guarantee, provided that the complaint is valid.

Has anyone else noticed a degradation in speeds during DL+ times?

I am on a 10 meg capped line and used to enjoy constant speeds of over 3.6 gigs and hour. For well over a week now it has not gone above 3,2 gigs an hour at best. This morning was the worst it has been. 2,4 gigs; 1,9 gigs; 2,8 gigs.

On one level, I finished my DLs, so it doesn't matter, but on the other hand this time is supposed be the best for DL's and it has been great for ages with the odd day where things are a bit off but only once this month has it performed as it should have. In addition the product should perform as promised, so why should I have to accept a compromised product

Hi,

It's very strange to hear this issue is happening during DL+ hours. Please PM me your account details so I can investigate this issue.

My after hours seem fine, averages around 1.4GB an hour on a 4mb line.
I do notice the first hour is normally low though 900MB - 1.2GB unusually.

Hi,

During normal office hours, downloading or P2P protocols are prioritized because preference is given to other priorities, for example, browsing, emails, streaming; gaming etc. Please click here to see our Bandwidth priority profiles: http://goo.gl/kD7Eur

Your response although generic and probably informative to other users has no bearing on my post which is talking about the Afterhours D+. Additionally I was complimenting the speeds i was getting with the exception of the first hour, i.e. 00:00 to 01:00. :p

Not impressed with the service I've received! Asked for upgrade and another question, no response to ticket in days. Ticket 2472921

DL from news server and crawling along at 300 kbps on a 10 meg capped line. This is really poor

It's free. So don't expect it to be perfect.

Crystal Web gives it's clients access to a premium news server for free and have similar products and pricing to Web Africa.

Try them out maybe?

Thanks slvr

I have one of the MyBB specials which CW wouldn't be able to meet

The free news server have generally been very good for me and has always been one of the pluses for me.

This morning in the first hour I DL'd 2,8 gigs only when normally it would have been about 3,7 gigs and this was with both free and premium news servers :(
