Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Hi darkangel,

Are you in Gauteng or Western Cape because our upstream service provider has alleviated the congestion issue in the Gauteng region so far and they're still working to fix this problem in the Western Cape region as well. But please PM me your account details so I can investigate this issue. We're really sorry for the frustration this is causing you.
Western Cape.

If it's a known issue, there's no point in forwarding my details, as I'm not the only affected user. Right?

If they can't supply what is promised to the Western Cape, why are they still charging money for it? How can you expect people to pay for something you're not delivering. Shouldn't WA then be refunding everyone affected by this issue?

Who is the upstream provider? What are the problems? When is this due to be resolved? Why as customers is this information never explained..

WebAfrica at least allow us to cancel without requiring the one month notice?

Is this still an issue in the Western Cape? My connection is terrible tonight. Speedtest shows full speed, yet I can't stream, and even the Webafrica page takes ages to load.

My connection was dead but when I pointed my vehicle to speed test.net the connection came alive and is now downloading Windows 10 full professional 10130 at turbo speed, hehe...

for the past week i've noticed that i'm averaging 200 kb/s on my 10 mbit line. I'm on a capped account.

this is during peak hours, it was never like this before.

its fine after midnight...

but still getting 200 kb/s on downloads..

switched to another isp and i was going at 1050 kb/s as usual

Pretty much over Web Africa at this point. Asked for 4mbps upgrade. Specifically asked if it was R250/pm about 5 times. They add it on my profile as R299. I ask them to change it, they admit fault and 'fix it'. 'The recurring amount of the line will be adjusted to R250 before the close of business today and I sincerely apologise for the delay in getting this sorted'. Receive invoice: R299

Hi Squirrel,

Sorry about the mess up on your account. Can you PM me the account details or email address linked to it. I will take a look and get it sorted.

WebAfrica Helper, can you please help me out here with a quick question? When my Telkom line goes down and I report a fault, Telkom gives me a discount on my bill for the days until the fault is resolved. When I go to the movies and their projector breaks halfway through, I am refunded my money. When I go to a restaurant and halfway through my steak discover a nest of maggots, I am refunded my money.

How then does WebAfrica justify charging their users full price for a service they are not receiving due to a fault on your end? If you could answer this question for me, that would be great. :)

Hi Zewp,

What was the fault? If it was a line issue our team should be providing you with a credit for the downtime.

IPC Issues is the fault everybody is referring to in Cape Town.

WA isnt the only ISP effected, I think its CW, Axxess, Afrihost and WA. Telkom have said a 2 week resolution last week so should all come together before the weekend hopefully?

Is this an upstream provider (IS) capacity issue, or a upstream (Telkom issue)? I don't see how an IS IPC capacity issue will affect Afrihost for instance, they are on MTN?

Getting terrible performance currently. If this persists, I'm going to cancel my free GB and claim one of your non-existent money-back guarantees for the non-existent money I've been paying you all these months.

:D

Same. My latency has suddenly spiked to such an extent that D3 is unplayable. Southern suburbs, Cape Town.

Streaming seems slow as hell tonight youtube and hulu maxing out at around 120-140kB/s.

Online gaming latency is jumping around tonight, youtube is unplayable.

For the past few weeks I've been getting horrendous speeds on torrents during daytime hours on a capped package. Is WebAfrica now shaping capped accounts as well? :erm:
