Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Some of our customers may experience slow ADSL speeds owing to congestion being experienced by our upstream provider. Webafrica is in contact with our provider and is monitoring the situation. We apologise to any customers who might experience speeds slower than what they are used to and we will endeavour to get back to normal as soon as possible.

I apologize for the inconvenience which this has caused you, and will let you know once this has been sorted,

No eta, NO mention on their website of this. I have to say this is going downhill fast. Is it going to take another 3 weeks to fix this issue?

Think I should post this here as well, for anyone considering their service:

I used the 2GB free Capped account from Webafrica this weekend. Pings (for gaming) was stable at 34ms, which isn't that great, but was stable. On Sunday I signed up for their 60GB + 240GB capped account thinking hey this seems good...

NOPE! Ping shot up to 150ms and bouncing between 60ms and 150ms! Absolutely furious when that happened! Got fooled by their free account and then they destroy you! Will be going the claim my money back route, unless it gets resolved this week.

From Cape Town Milnerton area.

I just posted this: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/701796-Web-Africa-What-to-expect

If this is true then update this page:

https://www.webafrica.co.za/status/

Web africa need to go into crisis mode right now to fix their support and their network.

+1, please update your status page.

Agreed

Why does WA only react after complaints - this makes me wonder just how credible their statements are and their concern for customers

Hi,

We can't update the status as yet because we're still investigating this issue with our upstream provider, so we can determine how many of our customers are affected. But we're positive that this issue will be sorted out soon. We're really sorry for letting you down :(

bwahahaha... there is an issue.... but we do not want to tell people that there is an issue, cause we do not know what the issue is.... it sounds soooooooooooo familiar :)

Something horribly wrong with WebAfrica at the moment.
Downloads off a 10 meg line from torrent sites 50 kbs to 100 kbs a second.
Log in with my vodacom account and i get 1 MEG a second download from the very same torrent download.

Home capped account.
DSL Line 10Mbps
Home ADSL: 90GB + 360GB

Will be jumping ship end of this month.

You've got to be fscking kidding me.

A simple "We are experiencing slow speeds and high latency, our engineers are investigating" would have done wonders to alleviate the concerns of what little remains of your customer base, but instead, you choose to deny the issue. The only ISP that I have seen do this is Openweb, and the consumer backlash is such that I don't see them operating in the foreseeable future. You are headed down the same path.

As things stand at the moment with your approach to fault resolution and customer support, the old "Uncapped is unsustainable" meme can be substituted with "WebAfrica is unsustainable".

Whereas i don't really like to take part in these types of posts,i have to ask if its necessary to make multiple threads for the same thing?
Yeah we get that you are unhappy. Isn't that what this thread is for ?

Now I'm not trying to start a flame war,it just seems like you complain a lot.
Write it off as school fees and never go back to them again

I get where you are coming from.

each thread however looks at something different , the exception being "what to expect" which is a summary.

... yup, i did notice i complained a lot about Web Africa in the last few weeks, but surely if i cannot get through to their call center then i must try and reach them another way.

Surely you do not expect people to not not complain about bad service, how else is the rest going to learn about it?

I have a 5 gig data package with vodacom.

I fully understand that P2P is shaped during business hours however i do all my downloads after 6pm at night when i get home from work.

Hi WebAfrica Helper
With the recent IPC cuts can we expect to see any revisions in your ADSL product offerings? If so when?

Hi Guys.

What the heck is going on here...I really don't download a lot but Webafrica is crawling! Some pages don't even open! I normally get line speed (6Mbps) and have done for years...is there a problem somewhere ?

Yes and it has been like this for many of us for weeks now. Webafrica if you care about your customers now is the time to send out a mail explaining why we have such slow speeds, high pings and timeouts!

I could hardly stream last night.. Ive been a long standing WA customer, however 1 June I will be moving to a different ISP.

Extremely sad unfortunately but the decline of WA started after the last buy out and the dissolving of the WAGE team. Thats when it seemed to start to go downhill.

Yeah, WAGE was a biggie. People operating it actually cared about us gamers and our pings.

After being a customer for 6 years i cancelled my account today. Pathetic speeds and support. What a pity.
