Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Totally agree and not only that but we are lucky if Jeff comments on this forum more than the odd occasion.

Capped were promised an unaffected service - well that promise has most certainly not been delivered on

Capped accounts weren't supposed to be affected, and we're doing our best to do so.
We are the first to admit that the accounts exceeded our best expectations - and we had to bring on the extra capacity earlier than expected. We're not trying to keep this quiet.

See my post here for an update.

Its been 5 months of issues (since August) now and tbh i have not used my WA account for the last month, the uncapped service is just another issue to add to all the other issues which as far as i can tell have not been resolved yet

Thanks for your comments Jeff - if I read it correct you are saying that you are trying to effect them :erm:

I would have assumed that a top tier company surely can manage this situation better. When you had capacity issues a few months back due to SAT3 I think, you simply downgraded us home, capped users. Now you simply put us in the same bowl as uncapped and give us an inferior service. I can not keep up with all the comings and goings and excuses etc. Also I thought the capacity upgrade of a few days ago was going to sort this all out.

You also state that your network is not currently at capacity, so surely then we should not have problems with performance issues.

On a positive note I did see better speeds during DL+ time this morning, but that might have been due to the fact that the DL's were taking place thru Astraweb and not the WA news server. Not sure

Hi Fulton,

I don't see where I'm saying that we're "trying" to affect our capped accounts. As a business, I don't think we'd want to target a certain product and simply slow it down, this seems like more speculation on your part than anything else.

No, capacity issues weren't experienced during the SAT3 outage, but rather a simple SAT3 outage. The additional capacity that you're referring to here was for our redundant links to make the service better until our primary links came back online, nothing more, nothing less.
The recent additional in capacity last week has seen an increase in performance on our network, however we were the first to admit that this wasn't what we wanted from our Uncapped products. We've been very up front about what's happening from our end - although not ideal, at least we're coming to a solution.

We're delivering the internet, if your browsing and email is working along with other protocols that are meant to be used on a Home product during office hours then that's great. Usenet, p2p and VPN as a few examples - can't be expected to be seen as full line speed 24/7.

Good to hear that your Download Plus hours have improved.

News servers are crawling @ 0.2kb swapped over to Afrihost and it's 400kb

Intl went down briefly for me round 4:00 today. Also couldn't access the WA page. Local sites were fine though.

Seems to be a better now....still a bit sluggish.

Slow. 400 Kbps stream buffering (on a 4 Mbps account/line),

Something's borked.

Morning guys,

How are things looking this morning?
Please be aware that the connectivity issues experienced last night were due to schedule network maintenance.

Please also note that the News Server is having issues at the moment.

Jeff, can't you please starting a opt-in mailing list for schedule network maintenance, we don't go look at your forums every time there's a slow down. I'd like to be notified in advance. If there is already one, then a link please.

We're working on mailing list already, and I only link to the forums for a point of discussion.
