Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Well, 4Mbit line, WA Titan Data 2 25 GB account, News Server running at 20kB/s spiking to around 50kB/s. Switch to WA Prepaid Local account and it's flying at 420kB/s. Have had a call logged with WA since 06 Dec, but no solution to date. Would really like someone from WA to explain why the Titan account is being throttled so much?

Well I have been away since the 16th, so have not been able to see for me how the upgrades have worked out.

This morning I had over 13 gigs scheduled for DL+ time (I am on 6 meg, capped account). I did not manage to even get 4 1/2 gigs DL This is really poor and at this rate will have 30 + gigs of DL+ cap available at the end of the month.

Any feedback from anyone else on DL+ and news servers?

Youtube last night was good.

That's on a 4Mbps line, on 4mbps uncapped account.

(6783 megabytes) / (5 hours) = 385.877333 kBps
 
Thanks Loopin - you were getting about 75% capacity during DL+ time and about 90% during normal times. I was about 25% during DL+ times and as the morning progressed things just got slower and slower. I am on a capped account so do not really DL during normal hours.
Hopefully they will get it sorted out as this really used to be such and excellent service from WA
 
Hey guys,

There have been a few reports about issues with the news server, we're testing a few things and will hopefully have it fixed soon.

is there something wrong with the mumble server on chat.wage.co.za
its been down for a few days now
 
Download plus time

Well, DL+ time this morning was even worse. Managed just over 2 1/2 gigs. This really is rather poor to put it mildly and I will not be able to DL the programmes I want or get anywhere using up the rest of my cap allocation this month.

I was told that the engineers were going to test things last night - well, I am guessing they did not do anything.

Come on WA - this really used to be such a brilliant area that has not worked consistently well for me for ages.

No reported issues with that server.
See if you can drop Rob, our Gamesmaster a PM either on our forums or MyGaming.

What were you downloading during the D+ hours? I'm aware of some reported issues with the news server - our engineers are having a look at that one.
 
Hey guys,

The news server is currently undergoing a RAID rebuild, hence the connections will be slower. This will hopefully be sorted out by tonight.
 
Much better this morning - almost full capacity. Good to see. :)

My only reservation is that many of the DL's would have been running thru Astraweb as they were old files, but let's hope all is sorted
 
Oh well, sadly still seem to be problems with the news server.

I tried to DL two files that were less than a day old on the new server and totalled 2 gigs (an hour DL if going at full 6 megs). The DL finished before 5 with 03:00 being the only hour were it managed any reasonable speeds.

If one reads the uncapped feedback thread everyone seems happy with DL+ time, so it seems that us capped users are the ones who are suffering, and this has been going on for a while now.

Anyway it seems to me there are still some issues with the news server and let's hope something gets sorted.

ya i also use the wa news server and dl + times on uncapped is also not good , check my usage last night.

I did about 1.2 gigs and it was completed in under an hour, so that was great. Hopefully problems with news server are sorted out. I was promised feedback when all is on track, but have not heard.
 
Buffering badly on slow streams tonight. Unwatchable.

Seems the same on AH.

Edit: Both are buffering but WA is worse.
