I have now been on this package for about a month and have some issues - good and bad.

I am very happy with speeds and browsing. Also when everyone else was battling due to seacom, I was happily breezing along. With the increased cap, very happy so well done WA

Sadly I do not yet feel that things are 100% and am keen to know if others have had any of my problems and how to get them resolved.

From the day my line was transferred from Telkom to WA, my telephone line sound quality has gone from perfect to poor. It is like the days before ISDN!! I have reported this to WA and even Telkom just this morning, but still is terrible. Now maybe this is Helkom's way of preventing people from transferring lines to ISP's

My other negative is that I have moments when everything just stops. I listen to a lot of streaming audio and I use netlimiter, so I can see traffic. Everything will be great, and then download speeds will simply drop to 0 for a minute or two, and then suddenly back up we go. Naturally if I am browsing the net, things just go dead for the while.

Both of the above I have reported; Telkom has even come to test things at my home, and still the problems persist. I am sure I read of someone else battling with the temporary stoppages.

Just experiencing a stoppage now!!.:sick: Internet radio stopped and 30 or so seconds later, off we go again!!

Any thoughts or ideas welcomed.

I've been using Webafrica and don't have those stoppages, not that I've noticed at all.

I am also on the complete 7 option but I can report that I have no issues and am very happy. I dont really stream data but I do play some online games so I will notice an outage.

I dont believe that moving your ADSL line to WA has anything to do with it - this is really only a billing change and I really doubt Telkom would interfere with that. We have problems with exchanges that get too congested and that can cause the wheels to come off the trolley. Telkom does not upgrade the exchange until they have recouped a percentage of the initial investment to roll out ADSL in your exchange - as a result the exchange lags until they spend money to upgrade it...

Pretty sure those "stoppages" are related more to the noise on your line than anything else... that noise affects DSL signal (check POTS filters too, etc)

We have just moved and have a similar problem. Old house was fine, new house is a real problem. The DSL part just drops completely every so often. It happens maybe once or twice a minute. There is definitely a problem on the line. We had the Telkom guy out yesterday and he left thinking the problem had been solved. Try and do a "ping www.telkom.co.za -t" and see if you get any timeouts.

Nothing has changed bar WA "in charge" of my line. The noise started the day the transfer happened - very odd!!

Hi Fulton17

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

I would like to have your query investigated to see what the possible causes could be.

Could you please pm me your contact details and client code so that I may have the query investigated.

Thank you.

i also seem to be experiencing stoppages every now and again, which was never evident in my 384kbps line.

Although our line quality has not dropped.

Hi Peder

Could you please pm your contact details and customer code as well.

I would like to have your account investigated as well.

Thank you.

I'm not sure if my problem is the same, but here it is anyway:

At random times throughout the day, starting today, my internet connection would stop sending/receiving data. The router is still accessible and shows as "connected". After a few seconds, the connection drops and only able to reconnect anywhere between 5minutes and 30 minutes. This happened about 5-6 times during the day. might be a totally different problem to what was discussed in this thread but yeah, soz.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Same problem here...

This only started this morning....adsl will disconnect....PPP light goes off...then restarts.
Happened at least 10 times so far.
Happened just now as I am typing this post!!
VERY frustrating indeed.

I reported it this morning to WA but there was no solution offered...:(

I have PM'd WAangelo

Hi Guys

I have logged this matter with our engineers to investigate.

As soon as I receive an update from them I will inform you.

Thank you.

I've had no problems with WA just the odd dropped connection for a few seconds. Doesn't bother me much.

It's great that Complete 7 has been upgraded to 30gig unfortunately I'm still sitting at 16 gigs with my account:o

I am also experiencing interruptions on a Titan Data Only package. I loose connectivity but can still ping the websites I am trying to connect. This morning for a few minutes all my browsing timed out, Skype and Stream could not connect but I was able to ping with normal latency the sites I was trying to access.

I know that SAIX had some issues for a while this morning which effected WA, so that would have explained some of it.

.

I have this exact same problem on my WA unshaped account, the traffic just goes dead or reduces to every little for random periods of time. I'm forced to switch to my telkom shaped account for awhile until the webafrica one starts working again. Highly frustrating on an unshaped account which I buy for low latency.

This problem has been unique to webafrica for me, it hasnt occured on my telkom or sagateway accounts.

Hi guys

Could you please pm me your client codes and the usernames on which these timeouts are occurring.

I would like to add your details to the current task logged for the engineers to investigate.

Thank you.
