web africa crawling

Usually its like 20KBish and then jumps to line speed after hours. Other days its full line speed whole day. Yesterday(or day before, can't remember) it was like 5KBish for a while & fluctuated a lot. I don't think its a load issue since when its at 20ish it stays there fairly consistently.

The NS speed isn't a major issue for me though...I'll just let it run overnight.

Oh, and still getting occasional 403 article not found errors. One of them I checked w/ Garyvdh and he said they are working on his paid NS sub...not sure which one he uses.

Blasting away at 30kbs now. At least it's working I suppose :erm:

Wonder if it is not their shaping service that has gone mad, as after hours the connection is fine:

I do understand that webafrica's shaped accounts are shaped during office hours, but whats the point of having a 6 meg line if my http downloads get speeds of 40kB/s during office hours and news servers give speeds of 20kB/s - this is some extreme shaping

Arent capped offering's supposed to be better than uncapped offerings? My mweb uncapped gives me better speeds than my webafrica capped account during office hours..

I thought I was hard-capped, so swopped to my IS account - all now fine - and go back to CP to see 8GB remaining on SAIX. Thing that bothered me was when I looked into system status a nice big 'all systems operational' was displayed with green tick, a load of BS. Thx WA.

Don't put all rotten eggs in one basket - have various accounts, SAIX / IS or a mix of diff providers if and when things go wrong.

50GB WA Titan Capped account useless, wait 20 -25 seconds for page to turn, bought some more Telkom bandwidth and the connection is flying...

Am on WA Complete 7 and have not noticed any issues the last few days - is it only the Titan accounts being affect?

I'm asking my money back and leaving WA if a resolve is not found soon, (already approached my bank to prevent them deducting funds from my CC) - ready to log a dispute...

Ping statistics for www.google.com
Packets: Sent = 10, Received = 9, Lost = 1 (10.0%)
Round Trip Times: Minimum = 324ms, Maximum = 330ms, Average = 325ms

Why are we been routed to HongKong ? I'm still getting packet loss which aint great for FPS gameing eish.

I also experienced extensive packet loss on WA this week, anything from 10% to 52% which pretty much make it useless. Strangely enough my latency was still normal, maybe around 15 - 20ms more on international than usual.

All fingers definitely point to the TITAN accounts (I'm on TITAN 1) so tried this morning using an old WA Unshaped account with some MB's left. And guess what - everything is flying with zero packet loss.

I noticed that my mail has also been delayed yesterday, one mail I received 14 hours after it was sent! And it was from a prospective client so obviously that upset me a lot. My mail is forwarded to my gmail account so not sure where things went wrong but now I'm very worried because I cant afford to lose clients. I have a Titan account which confirms that there is an issue there, never had any problems till I "upgraded".

so there is an issue, would you be so kind as to update the status on your website. Otherwise i feel its pretty useless status ticker.

Furthermore care to give us a bit of transparency with what is actually wrong, or what has been discovered?

Because according to your site "All Systems OK!", which is not the case.

Any chance of a meaningful description of Web Africa's current problems ?

Hi all,

We've had dreadfully poor service since 13/10 and after 2 days no general notification on the web site and nothing but vague indications as to root cause when contacting support.

Can we get a more detailed explanation of what is going on here and more importantly some estimation as to when a resolution to the problem will be in place.

Two days of troubleshooting and no resolution says to me its time to switch providers - anyone want to suggest a reliable alternative.

Thanks

Mibboy
