Hey All

Just wanted to raise the issue as it doesn't seem to make sense to me and I'm wondering if the sales consultant was actually correct.

I wanted to sign up for the uncapped package now and didn't think it would be a hassle and thought I would be billed pro-rata everything went fine and there weren't any hassles until I got to the billing part where I was told I was going to be billed R289. I asked why since it was nearly end of the month and I got a sarcastic reply 'because you can use the service'

Ok, so if it's capped I can understand paying full price because whether you sign up now or later for say 10 gb, you can use it straight away and will be capped whether in 1 day or 20 days. Surely uncapped should be pro rata because there is no limit so if I sign up at month beginning I'll use 60 gb but if I sign up at month end, I can only use say 5 gb.

So how can there be no pro rata billing??? I've now had to stave off until next month just to avoid being taken advantage of! All was good up until that part. Very disappointed WEB Africa !

It always amazes me how so many people here want everything for almost nothing

Hi,

I really don't see where Webafrica fails here. Aside from the fact that it is NOT almost the end of the month - a whole week to go - you can download quite a bit in a few days if you put your mind to it. Sure, it was a nice question to ask and would be great if you would have gotten a pro-rata bill, but if the answer is nope, surely it is as simple as making a decision that suits you: either pay and have it immediately or wait. There is nothing unreasonable about it, but if you feel it's a raw deal, then simply wait???

I was wondering if the billing was pro rata?

Thanks, i will wait till 1 Dec to get my account.. Bad that you had to fork out for the whole month though!

Mweb does have pro rata billing try them .... If i get a answer like that from a consultant I would not sign up or even look in their direction again. Just imagine what kind of lackluster effort they gonna give when something goes wrong with a attitude like that....

You do realize all other ISP's have pro rata billing for their uncapped products. Thanks for your nonsensical reply. You do realize that there are 4 weeks in a month generally so therefore we are 75% of the way through. Why would a person pay R289 for one week when they get 4 weeks for the same price?? Try rationalize what you say before you say it please.

At least I didn't sign up and I will wait till next month. You get taken for a ride often with that thought pattern?

I agree. It sucks that they don't have it. They would have made an extra R300 out of me :-(

Surprising, did you prod @WAJeff to find out if that really is the case?

Hi IceDreama,

I'd like to have a look into this for you. We do in fact offer pro-rata billing for both our Home and Business Uncapped products.
Please drop me a PM with your client code and I"ll have this looked into for you.

Thanks :)

On the Webafrica KB
You will be post billed: The billing run is completed on the last day of the month and all the data allocated for that month will be billed.

Uncapped accounts are activated instantly and are charged pro rata.

Funny, i paid on 16.11 and i was charged pro rata. Paid R.299.50 or something similar for 4Mb account. Makes you wonder if any of those consultants they know what they talking about. Don't regret too much, i'm kind of disappointed from the speed, certainly i'm not getting full line speed after 12a.m. as it was promised from Jeff and Craig or whatever WA's CEO name is. Or wait maybe my line speed is pro rata now too :) Raised the question in another thread and was ignored. Conveniently WA representative did not see it. Cowards you know, answering the questions that only suit them and i mean all of the ISPs representatives in this forum. Would think that WA would be different, the same rubbish. Must be an African thing, who knows. Service is just shocking in this country. Don't know if it was like this always or it is just "recent" after 1994? Curious if some one wants to share! Apologies to the OP for taking the thread in to a different direction!

Didn't see your post either and i'm quite a trawler ^

Just replied :)
I've requested that the account be activated and you be billed pro-rata. It seems as though this was a bug on our system, which has been resolved.
