Yes please! Post a screen shot here...
Also PM me your email address, and I'll send you an email from [email protected] that you can reply to, and let's settle this once and for all. Yours is certainly a unique and isolated case, as cyberarmy has illustrated.

OK then - the network architecture changed in PMB from a few users with public IP's and a bunch of NAT'd users on a bridged network, which had no QoS and no equal-sharing-amongst-users policy.

This was great for some who used it to its full abusable capacity. Other people struggled to open web pages.

Public IP's are still available, but not on the free and ad-hoc basis as PMB used to run.

I've tried to offer support here, but you cannot provide any details of your problem (settings I requested), so its not an easy thing to do to speculate on what you are doing wrong. There are a multitude of settings an inexperienced user can get tangled up in, and also flashing the router incorrectly can cause even more problems.

If you would like to have a detailed conference call on Skype with whichever marketing/technical/development members you would like to speak to, please let me know and we'll arrange it. We have done this for clients like yourself who like to pose probing questions about our system.

But there's probably little point as you intend cancelling anyway?

Frequent disconnects, 619 errors ...

Finally got my home installation finished Saturday morning, moved the antenna outside, nice 500m CLEAR line of sight to GWI-NED-S1, nice constant 38% signal ...

Worked like a charm, even had SKY.FM radio streaming constantly at 128KBits/s, surfing fast, downloading with DAP at 50KBytes/s ...

Went out for the night to celebrate ;)

But alas, we we got home ...

Slow. Constant disconnects. Then 619 errors (deja vu, used to get TONS of these on 3G untill VodaCom fixed whatever) AFAIK that's a Radius Server issue :(

Still like that today

Update @ 21:45 - First connect failed, just hangs on "Connecting via PPPOE" ... Second connect failed, Error 678 ... Third connect failed, Error 619. Fourth connect - AT LAST!

Why can't we just have cheap Internet in South Africa that works? Seems like some EVIL FORCE is against us LOL.

Hopefully they will fix it on Monday (I am posting this at R2/Mb on 3G)

And no, I have not phoned to report this, will do that Monday morning. Want to see what the status has been on the work connection this weekend first (Eastwood Tower / Bishopstowe).

Update @ 08:35 - Work connection not working today, I have been told that International Browsing stopped working Saturday night ....

We also have warnings from Telkom that disruptions in their network are expected until 3rd November.
Still investigating - but this seems to be the reason...

Web intact... how can I be sure you guys are 100% legal? Like if I came to your offices and you can show me correspondence from icasa that can be corroberated... bcos I would love 802.11b 14k uncapped, I just dont want to do something illegal, even if the law is set by the completely incompetent icasa. If there is some way you can show me without a doubt that you guys are legal, I will signup asap.

Bad (or no?) network response?

Last night on home connection from about 19:00 on ....

GWI Nedbank Segment 1
43% Signal Strength
Speed test (when it did not just hang) showed
3KByte/Sec Download, 24Kbits/Sec Line Speed

Also part of the Telkom issue?

Speeds good @ work today:

Start Time: 09:10:29
End time: 09:10:34
Download Size: 409600 bytes
Time Delta: 5.9703629016876 seconds
Download Speed: 67 KBytes/s
Line Speed: 536 kbits/

Work connection is fine :)

Home connection is fine according to my Internet Savvy kid who uses it in the afternoon. :)

But after 8PM last night when I wanted to do some Internet Banking - too slow, latency issues, dissconnects, 678 errors, 619 errors. Had to use Vodacom 3G

What gives guys? Why is it just bboy and me? The Nedbank tower?

I am posting this on our work (Eastwood Tower) connection this morning and it's as good as it's ever going to be.

??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok.. so i took my wrt to the gwi guys yesterday and we couldnt actually get it to work with the new network.
spent about 2 hours trying to get it right.
i've left it with them again, and its probably going up to jhb on tuesday so they can play with it up there. but for the time being i am without wireless , but i am still paying for it.
no loan unit available

@bboy

If you are not connected but still paying, then that is by your choice.

When you experience prolonged connectivity problems, you should notify our accounts dept with the details of your period of inactivity and ask for a pro-rata rate reduction. This will be varified with the local agents and a credit passed on your account.

Please also keep in mind that although we do not support personal equipment, or equipment that was not purchased from GWI, we are still doing everything we can to help you.

I think we deserve some slack for that, don't you?

A loan unit would normally be procured as a priority for customers who have purchased equipment from us which has failed.

Seeing as you did not purchase your linksys from us, you should be seeking a loan unit from the vendor who supplied you - not so?

Clearly there is a connection issue - I would say between you and the tower? The disconnections and struggling to make your PPPoE connection are typical of a borderline signal or one experiencing interference.

This is my guess going on your description:

Option 1:
You are too close to the tower and are picking up side lobes/reflections which can vary according to temperature - (inconsistant signal). If the tower is high and you are close to it, this is quite likely.

Option 2:
Someone in your neghbourhood switches on their WiFi device at home at night only, and is on the same channel as the GWI tower. This can be varified by scanning from your bridge and checking for strong or similar signals on the same channel or neighbouring channel as the GWI tower.

Please ask your local rep/tech to help you troubleshoot these possibilities. It can be monitored from our side, and with a little assistance from you, we should be able to nail it.

@ mr webintact.

When i first approached GWI a few months ago, I inquired about using my existing equipment, they said well lets try it and see if it works and if it did we would go ahead. So we did a trial and it did work!

End of story.

When the network changed i asked them what I needed to change, they told me to enter this and that setting and I did. It did not work for me, I told them, they took my router away for a week and brought it back saying it did work fine. I plugged it in, it did not work, it has not worked since. The GWI guy was convinced it worked and kept ensuring me it does work with these settings.

Of course I am a total and complete idiot so I must of been wrong!

So I tried and tried and tried and tried to get it to work, I tried different firmwares, different settings, advice from other people and nothing got it to work.

Took it to the GWI guy to show me, and when he tried this time nothing, doesn't work, we flashed it with different firmware and tried again, still nothing.

I do have another linksys unit and it does exactly the same thing! I don't think linksys themselves will loan me a unit when i have two of theirs that work 100%.

And no, I asked to cancel and was told it would be a month notice period and the debit order went straight off my account.

So its hardly my choice.

In that case, you can request a credit be passed....

And I overlooked the part about you cancelling - why the suggestion of a replacement then?
