Web sQuad ISP - Feedback Thread #2

Anyone aware of any outages in PTA East on Frogfoot? - not getting an IP

Heads up. we are seeing multiple reports of a Microsoft outage. Teams, Outlook etc affected.

Thanks for the confirmation. Wondering if it hit something bigger as I completely lost all access to my Citrix VM and even now it's feeling like three times the usual latency

The Outlook PWA doesn't even open for me, but at least the Android app is working.

Looking at latencies of monitored services, seeing high latencies and significant losses inside Microsoft's network. Seeing a bunch of auth issues too. Smells like a Duck. Quacks like a Duck. it might just be the OS.

I stand corrected, it seems it's just down to cable systems.

O365,Citrix,Azure,Teams and Zoom issues in ZA

Azure has a tracking ID at least
VT60-RPZ

Citrix really seems to be unstable right now. From my thumb sucking I seems to be between 4-10 seconds of latency. Even more so when you join a teams call via citrix.

I am seeing reports that WACS and ACE cables have been cut and SEACOM is still down. Any validity to these articles?

Likely,SEACOM just sent notice about WACS

Out of 5 major cable systems, 1 (SEACOM) is confirmed and we are seeing unconfirmed reports of WACS and ACE being down as of this afternoon. This leaves Equiano and Eassy currently in production. A reminder that most cloud providers only use 2 or 3 of these systems, and all 3 common options are currently down. Equiano is also notorious for capacity issues on the terrestrial paths between Portugal and the rest of the EU

Microsoft has de-peered in SA and has dropped all local advertisements. Expect higher latencies and degraded performance. Expect the same from other cloud providers and CDNs shortly. We will do everything we can to route around faults, however the nature of the internet is we cannot control every route. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding

MTN saying WACS and ACE

SEACOM also confirmed WACS

Really hope this doesn't take too long to fix. Current latency to my citrix vm makes it pretty impossible to use.

Service Degradation
Title: Users in Africa may be unable to access multiple Microsoft 365 services or features

User impact: Users in Africa may be unable to access Multiple Microsoft 365 services or features.

Current status: We’re performed multiple actions on back-end processes to reduce service load and provide some relief. These actions were targeted to services including but not limited to; SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams and Azure Front Door routing. While we are still performing traffic shedding processing, a large focus is on reconfiguring and converting some available fibre links in the West Africa region into additional capacity to bring the overall throughput to pre-impact levels. Our current ETA for this action is 10:00 PM UTC. Furthermore, users will start to experiencing  incremental improvement as business hours in the Africa region come to an end and traffic volumes reduce.

Scope of impact: The issue significantly impacts users within the Africa region, however, users in other geographic locations may be impacted if their connections are routed through impacted networking components.

Root cause: Multiple major fibre cables which manage requests in and out of the Africa region are broken.
