Web sQuad ISP - Feedback Thread #2

Going around in circles @websquadza
I'm cancelling websquad and moving to afrihost.

Afrihost is awaiting your line release.

Websquad support says :

Afrihost support in response says :
Dropped you a PM here. It seems there is some miscommunication, however our team is trying to get MFN to process this for you. There is a cancellation ref and it's in your messages.

Thanks

Anyone else getting occasional buffering / stuttering on Youtube?

I tried doing a mtr, it goes well for 90% of the game, then drops for the 10% …

its bizarre, seeing similar reports on CISP and Afrihost threads but smokeping monitoring (and Unifi) not showing anything
i am aswell, so annoying
Definitely some sort of issue Google side. We've logged a ticket, but their T1 response is boilerplate. We've worked our way through their requirements (it's long list) and submitted to them..

We're seeing good injest volumes towards our GGC, so it seems like some sort of processing glitch in how the content is relayed. And the issue is, once a video is in the GGC and being served, the issue tends to minimise, if not vanish entirely. We did remove our GGC from production over the weekend and that seemed to improve matters, but that could also be co-incidental rather than correlative, as the issue is intermittent at this point. We will try down it again tomorrow if the issue persists.

This has been doing my head in the last few days, my connection statistics on a Discord call on Websquad:

Vs the same call when enabling Cloudflare Warp:

I've just not been having a great time with anything international, which is every multiplayer game that I play - PUBG and Overwatch, getting heavy intermittent packet loss and terrible rubber banding. Turning on Warp solves my issues. Cape Town, Vumatel Trenched.

Hi there, can you PM me your details? Also confirming if you've logged a ticket so we can look into this a little further?

Have you still been experiencing this? I've been going through this every evening since I reported it on Monday - just random timeouts that kick me out of games. I caught this screenshot from my Discord calls connection graph showing the issue as it occurred tonight. The most frustrating thing is that its not consistent.

Howdy, you're in different regions, so it would be entirely different routing. I had a chat to the team about your ticket today, we're seeing very high jitter (up to 180ms) on your link pretty much from the point where vuma hand over to us, and suspect this is what is causing your issue - one theory is that your light levels are too high. We've seen this with other VX clients, where the light levels are too high and the optics get a little burn in. Slightly harder to diagnose and prove though.. The guys are investigating a little further and will revert.

Looking to my inner self to realise that I'm the problem. Could I reach out to you in DM?

PUBG uses AWS servers which is picked up locally and taken via Amazons network so this would highly suggest your issue is local. Warp and VPN's can sometimes smooth out unstable latency/jitter from experiences that i have seen.

I am moving to a new home and am looking at moving from the current ISP and was considering Websquad however I have a few requirements:

No CGNAT - I run a homelab and while I can work around it with workarounds and VPN's I don't want to.
Own router allowed - I would prefer to run my own mikrotik rather than get a free router.

Address has both openserve and TTConnect and openserve would be preferred.
Would Websquad be a good fit?

Have had no issues with WS on all those counts - am running a Unifi LAN and on Openserve I even have IPV6. I have a homelab as well and have a static IP (not needed but i have one) Support is really good and knowledgeable as well when needed

Anyone else been having these short drops today? Lasts like 3-5 seconds each time, been ~4 today over the last few hours so far

Haven't noticed anything my side - OS / Pretoria - location and FNO? Logging also doesn't surface anything although is is slightly higher packet loss (3%) compared to other days
