WA's terrible at the moment. Check out the AH Capped thread for latency issues.

Anyone else capped account crawling? I am getting 200KB/s on a 20mb line?

My 4mb home capped account is flying at full 440kB whether I'm streaming or downloading. Pings are the best I've seen as well.

Also haven't had any real issues with WA. Was a bit slow last week but I switched between my AH and WA accounts and both were slow so put it down to something other than my ISP.

Came home early and getting 50KB/s on NNTP.Don't expect full speed but this is just ridiculous on a 10MB line.
Will give Crystal Web capped a try next month.Surely can't be worse than this.

Yeah it's pretty pointless using free news servers during the day. It used to be throttled to 100Kb/s but nowadays it's even worse.

WA's throttling (for NNTP) has definitely worsened in the last couple of months - and that includes after 20h00.

I now only get full speed - and then not always - between 00h00 and 06h00.

I normally max out my 4Mbps line before 8AM on the WA/IS news server, but once the clock hits 8, throttled like crazy.

My download is still running, but now at 200 KB/s which is pretty pathetic considering it's 6.30pm.

I've also been throttled to ~200kbps on a 10mbps line for the last 2 nights...

I think it's pretty common knowledge now the cape town IPC/network always sux (not only IS funny enough but vox, mtn and who cares who else) more than jhb or dbn.

I don't know why and is the only reason stopping me from moving there
