Webafrica Capped vs Pro Capped issue

*UPDATED*

I've made a different thread about this with no responses. Just like my support ticket from Webafrica that has had no response.

This is what Webafrica posted about shaping their accounts:
https://help.webafrica.co.za/support/solutions/articles/27000044080-bandwidth-priority-

Thus leads to the question, what are we paying more than double for a Capped Pro account?

Either they are charging more than double for the same service or the normal capped is not getting the service they advertise.

If they don't come forward with a proper explanation, maybe ICASA should follow up on this.

*Update*
They eventually got back to me and confirmed my issue. Hopefully this means something is being done about it.

"Our service has changed and bandwidth priority and shaping should no longer apply. The fact however that there is a capped and a capped pro service contradicts our new statement."

Here's a novel idea if you are unhappy. Use a different ISP and rather give them your money instead of Web Africa.

I disagree, name and shame them.

Same story with CoolIdeas. I can watch streams no prob on my OpenServe/Afrihost uncapped unshaped 10meg fibre. Attempting this at a buddy's house, with his "uncapped unshaped" 50meg fibre line is just a disaster. They are shaping the everloving jacobzuma out of it.

Screw these guys and their false promises. If it's shaped, be upfront about it.

We don't shape any of our services, has your buddy logged a ticket? And is your buddy also on Openserve?

Can confirm this... I always have 6-8 streams open in Source Quality... generally pulling a total of 4-5MB/s (40mbps) in data AND then i am still streaming to twitch myself at a bitrate of 6000 and i'v never had any issues...

CoolIdeas on Vumatel

This is always the first kind of reply. "Don't complain just move." The sarcastic and useless nature of the comment is why I dislike forums in general. People post only to get the post count up to win competitions without contributing anything useful or positive.

I have considered moving plenty of times. I would like to find out from Webafrica if this is a new development or if they are planning to do anything about it or if there is something that I don't know or understand yet. And unfortunately I just don't have any better options where I live.

I have found Webafrica to be a very good ISP except when it comes to support. They grew faster than they could cope and just never bothered to get their support up to scratch. It all turned into easy money for them and they stopped investing in the client experience because they got business anyway. The service from an ISP should not be scale rated. Its 100% or 0%. You either get what you pay for or you don't.
Support can not be rated that binary. And the Webafrica support is very low on the scale.

Communication with the customers is the most important part of a business like this and this is where Webafrica fail. It should not take a week or more just to answer something like this. That is why it looks dodgy. It was a question that required a simple answer. No actual work had to be done. It could have been resolved in less than 5 minutes.

And people like you who write click bait topics, are why people like us tell you a one liner back.

Bad service is not a scam, its just, um, bad service

Will take this to PM, and eat humble pie if required

Cant say I agree with this at all. Only thing I have had a problem with was twitch streams, and it is because of the firewall on my router, which I am not willing to remove. So my own fault.

Netflix, showmax, youtube etc, I can stream all of them without any problems at all.

You obviously did not read what all this is about. I did say they had bad service but the scam is about them charging more than double (PRO Capped vs Capped) for what is according to the link the same quality service.

Again, I would (and have) move(d) away from Web Africa. It's not worth the heartache dealing with support or getting inferior service delivery.

You have the choice to do whatever you want as I assume you're an adult capable of making your own decisions on this and not riding on the coat-tails of mommy and daddy paying for the service (or maybe that's the reason why you choose to moan about it constantly and putting up with their crap service?)

RE: Competitions I can win with post count, can you point me to any of these competitions? 2400 posts over 4 years... yea buddy, I'm TOATS in it for the competition and not pointing out your moronic moan session is moronic

You have a choice. You're not exercising that choice. You are doing this to yourself. You are frustrating yourself. Why do this? Why not just move to a better ISP who you don't have to worry about or stress about or frustrate yourself about? Are you such a masochist that you enjoy it?

Anyway.... Enjoy your "thing". I'm going to enjoy my frustration-free life
