Things seem to be in a pretty grim state judging by my own experience and what I'm reading in the forums.

Here's a quick timeline of my recent experience:
24 April 2015: Ask for line to be transferred back to Telkom and data account to be cancelled with immediate effect
24 April to 3 May: No response other than automated.
4th of May 2015: After phoning several times, I receive confirmation regarding cancellation.
5th of May 2015: Receive automated emails regarding cancellation.
18th of May 2015: After phoning several times, where calls just die on their end, several attempts via chat, I manage to reach someone that say they will escalate the line transfer. Sometime later I phone billing to enquire why refund was not done (that took over 45min to reach someone), they inform me that line transfer was only done today, it was requested 24 April.... Still awaiting more feedback on refund.

While this is only my picture, it seems as though every single customer-facing part of the company has gone down the drain by a long way. DSL Support Chat is so broken (still shows copyright 2013), almost every single time i've attempted to use it in the past few months, it either just cancels and says "we're on a deserved break" after being in a queue of 3 people for over 20min. It's often offline. Phones just seem to die or nobody answers in several departments. Queries are half-actioned and not followed through (as with the line transfer). I've been told several times that the ticket system is broken by staff. They keep apologising on every single count, but there seems to be zero improvement.

It just seems as though WebAfrica is in a heap of trouble on all fronts. At this rate, it would not surprise me to wake up one morning and see a myBB article about them being liquidated or something.

Sad as they once provided great service, now... well anybody's guess as to what is going on there, but it's certainly not positive.

Yup, had the same experience last year. Signed up and canceled within a month.

Hi,

So sorry for the way our team has handled your issue and you have every right to be upset with us :( We're currently recruiting and looking for more staff, because our guys are battling high call volumes - religiously. Nonetheless, that's not an excuse for the poor service you've received. Please PM me your account details so I can assist.

I've got one line and one account with them (capped for R299 per month) and I'm happy to say everything is just fine this side.

You've had some bad customer service, and now WA is "in trouble on all fronts" ??

Get it together man.

whatnot, its not 'some bad customer service', i highlighted one of them. It has been ongoing for months. If you look around in the other forums, of late it paints a very bleak picture of WA's overall wellbeing.

You could pretty much pick any thread on any ISP and it would be the same!

State of telecoms in SA...

If you don't like it, vote with your wallet and move...

Can you please PM me your account details so I can assist?

Not really. The amount of complaints about WebAfrica support is pretty damn high. My SO regularly struggles with not being able to get through to their call centre and them not answering tickets.

He's actually convinced the company is going under.

Hi Zewp,

We're looking for more staff because our guys are swamped with high call volumes - most of the time. Nonetheless, sorry for the poor service you've received from us. If there's anything I can assist with, please drop me a PM so I can assist.

Ok so basically I tested this whole thing yesterday.I have been having a sub par experience on one of my lines with Web Africa for the last 5 months because of Telkom exchange congestion,so even after Telkom tech came out to check I had no improvement only getting 1mb on a 4mb line.

I contacted the call centre to get them to transfer this particular line back to Telkom but I would like to still keep my account as it performs flawlessly on my other lines.I spoke to Tracy and she processed the request and I was told I had to wait 30 days so meaning I could only cancel end of June,I told her that it doesn't make sense because my line is unusable at 1mb instead of 4 after 2 support tickets yielded no happiness from Telkom tech support so she said she would escalate the matter I should hold the line, after a minute my phone battery died and I thought oh well Ill call back later.

10 minutes later I get a call to say her manager has authorised the line to be cancelled immediately.

All in all I would say that's decent service since she called me back without me asking to be called back and the manager was understanding of the situation and waived the 30 day thing.I'll be keeping my other line and account with them because I got good, professional and helpful service.

Only thing I would say they need to improve is the relatively long call waiting times I waited just over 10 minutes for them to answer my call which IMO is too long.

You waited 10 minutes "!!!!!!!! And your complaining....

My bru, clearly you've never called Afrihost on a normal day.

I'm in agreement with OP that something's up at WA. Over the last 8 to 10 months they've used standard excuses for non existent support. "Well deserved break" "**** went down".

The bottom line is 20 mins holding for support is not going to attract new or keep existing customers.

When I call Cell C from my contract number they answer in a min or two, that's how it should be.

Funny thing with MTN though when I was on contract with them they would answer immediately (or within 30 seconds) but when I was on prepaid on the same number I waited for ages, sometimes up to 20 minutes,I'm guessing they give contract customers preferential call centres or something.

Either way that's terrible from Afrihost luckily I'm not with them, but still Web Africa should improve on that IMO.10 minutes isn't painstakingly long but its longer than it should be.

After many years with WA I am also beginning to wonder.

I currently have at least two PMs to WebAfrica Helper that have gone unanswered for some time.

I am also facing a minor dilemma: I am assisting a ratepayer's association with FTTH. What do I say when they ask my opinion of WebAfrica ?
