Hi all,

I have not been on this forum in a very long time !

I have been having hassles with Webafrica charging me installation fee of R1725 to move my fibre 500 metres within the same complex.
They have no idea to providing a service or attending to your queries. I requested an invoice to substantiate the installation fee which on one email they confirmed they will send and another that they will not.
I get the feeling they are more than happy to take out money, but when it comes to providing a service they are lacking.

I have lodged a complaint at Hellopeter to only be referred back to the support team which is useless.

So at this point I am looking to change ISP's and looking at Home Connect or Cool Ideas. Any comments regarding the pros and cons on each of these would be appreciated.

is this running off the Vumatel network?

If it is, then the R1725 is a standard installation for all new installations, i would assume you moving 500meters means you've moved to another unit. Hence would count as a new installation and issuing a new Object Number, which Webafrica then links to your account.

That would be Vumatel that's charging you that fee as it's a new installation, not WebAfrica....

I understand the fee, what I am upset about is that when I arranged the move I specifically asked about the installation fee and they said it won't be applicable, that the only charge would be R1010 if I cancelled within 12 months.

What would be the best option ... Home Connect or Cool Ideas .... for an alternative?

Supersonic gets my vote if you want to change ISP's. Free month and Free installation. There is a prorata clawback for installation after the free month though so you can keep that in mind but it's still month to month and if you cancel you just pay the pro rata instillation fee which you have had to pay up front for other ISP's
